2 year old night terrors ??

My son is starting to have these screaming attacks while in his sleep, kicking screaming and and thrashing around. He won’t let me soothe him and I can’t do anything to help ..it has to just pass by itself and then he wakes up and wants to lay with me. According to the internet these are “night terrors” and after the last one he had I make sure he hasn’t had any caffeine before bed or watched anything bad. We having a relaxing wind down and prayer with calm music. It makes me feel there’s nothing at all I can do and when I try to talk to him to tell him mommy is here and he is safe it seems to make him more upset

My daughter used to suffer terribly with night terrors and for weeks I didn’t know what it was, so frustrating!

In the end I realised it was because we was over heating! She would always wake up sweating, I had to start putting her to bed in minimal clothing, shorts and t-shirt and always make sure her hair was tied up on a bun as she has long thick hair which made her head sweat. Since doing this she stopped having the terrors, she’s now grown out of them I think as she can go to bed in long sleeves and trousers again now.

Hope this helps x

my daughter had them a few times and i figured out its because she was getting like a hit of adrenaline in the last hour before bed (goofing around, jumping and running, tickling, laughing too hard etc) - that might be something to consider.
we make sure the last 1.5hours are totally calm wind-down time now. (shower, cuddles, book/puzzle, more cuddles then milk and bed)

Same here!! My 2 and 5 years old have been doing this for the past week but I don’t know why.
