Pram shopping

(UK based)
My in-laws have offered to buy us our pram/buggy as it's our first, and they want to contribute. We are very happy but they want to go physically out shopping with us to look. Since Mothercare and Mamas and Papas have gone, we can't think of anywhere apart from Smyths to go looking, and we want a good range to look at. If any of you ladies know any good places, please share as I'd like to have a good look around before making a decision.

There are sometimes mamas and papas in big Nexts or is there a John Lewis near you? X

Yes John Lewis have wide range 😊

John Lewis! There are mamas and papas around too!

John Lewis 👍🏼👍🏼

Where are you based? There's still some mamas and papas

I'm going to Mama and Papas and John Lewis this weekend (Manchester).

Definitely go to John Lewis in Ipswich x

Recommend booking the free A-Z appointment at John Lewis as it can be overwhelming to browse without their guidance. There’s no pressure to buy from them but they do give good discount codes. I think mamas and papas have a similar service too

John Lewis, smyths, mamas and papas are in some big nexts & there are still some dotted around. Have a look at your area on Google, there might be smaller retailers xx

If it’s your first time buying a stroller don’t get drawn into the selling speech they all give & do your research first. I went for the Nina triv as it’s light, simple and super easy to dissemble. It’s not the most expensive on the market but these bugaboo things which are the most expensive are big, clunky & often new parents make the mistake of getting them and later purchase a lighter easier one. Anyway mine was given a higher score than the bugaboo🤩

Nuna Triv not Nina 😂

Great advice ! I spent a fortune on the icandy, and while it is nice - it’s huge and a pain in the arse to put up and down. Our travel stroller is so much more convenient to use now 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes you are not the only one! It’s so tempting to go for those kinda strollers as they are so popular & trendy.

Thank you, everyone. We are avoiding big brand names for budget purposes. We've decided to get a travel system instead of separate pram and buggy. My biggest concern is the lack of colour choices. Everything seems to be black or beige, whereas we want colourful. We are going to have a hunt around in John Lewis, smyths toys and Next. I appreciate the help, ladies. Gives us more options than we thought 😊❤️

For colourful I think Cosatto is a great option!

Have a look in decent charity shops you’ll be surprised the quality. My mum bought my son’s first pram from Somebody Cares, £50 brand new travel system never been used silver cross travel system with pram, buggy, big nappy bag, coffee cup holder, umbrella, waterproof cover, car seat (didn’t use car seat). We were amazed! Its still going fine 3 years later.

Avatar

I agree with.
We got the egg because it seemed the slimmest at the time ( I’m quite petite so didn’t think a huge pram would suit me anyway 😂) but it was a pain to put in the car and store in our home. And although it was lovely and sturdy, ot has its fair shares of let downs. There weren’t enough positives for us to keep it
-when she was about 7/8 months we sold it all and stuck with our travel stroller that we bought for a holiday. Our daughter is 2.5 and still using it

Definitely book an appointment at John Lewis! Even if it’s just for the information and and intro to how different systems work, furniture car seats etc. then you can take that info away and look for similar items. If you book the appointment you also get 15% off at JL.

MumsDirect is where we got ours

Have you thought about going to a baby convention? There’s one in london in March I believe. You can get some good deals there and it’s a fun day out x

Avatar

@Gabriella yes I am going in March to the excel 1st I think! Waiting till then to see what deals are there Xx

Avatar

Can I find Cosatto in stores?

Avatar

@Gabriella I had no idea that was even a thing, is it expensive and are the deals worth it?

I’ve never been to one so unsure unfortunately! A friend who’s got a 6 month old said that actually the one in London wasn’t that great so now I’m stumped 😂 hey ho, might still go, see what the fuss is about x
