Help!

I am due Feb 7th (so close 😱) and am kind of freaking out bc I haven’t done any classes yet or anything and this is my first. My dr told me I can get everything I need from YouTube so I want your guys’ input! Tell me any and everything I should look up on there to get the info I need. Anything basic, etc you watched and helped you so I might not even need to do a class. Baby care, breastfeeding, hacks, etc. All the good stuff😎 Thank you mamas!!!! 😘

I didn’t do any formal classes either. I watched YouTube, a little bit here and there. I also felt so unprepared but talking to my OB she said you don’t need all that. They will guide you if you know nothing. Dont stress too much. I watched you tube videos by Dr. bjorkman, it’s an OB and Peds dr. Couple going through their own experience coupled with medical guidance. They are great!

I've been reading what to expect when you're expecting and I think it has all the info you need and more! I also took a class at the hospital and mostly it was helpful to learn their own standard practices to know what to expect. I'm sure you could sign up for a hospital tour and ask those questions. I would find out what infant interventions they do and what your pain management options are.

No need to stress. I also read what to expect when you’re expecting before my first but didn’t take any formal classes. I think the big thing is knowing your options and what you want (doesn’t even need to be a true birth plan…I didn’t really have one) in terms of pain management, visitation, etc. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and make sure whoever will be with you (whether it is your partner or someone else) is in the loop, keeping you in the loop, and prepared to be an advocate for you.

Also, something I wish I’d know before my first is how common it is for breastfeeding to be a struggle. Since you mentioned breastfeeding, take advantage of lactation consulting services your hospital may offer. Also be aware of your own mental state. It is hard being a new parent and knowing the signs of postpartum depression/when to seek help is super important. I was borderline a few weeks after my son was born and am grateful for the support I had which really kept me from getting there.

The baby academy is offing free classes right now, I took my first class today it was great ! Also they give you a discount code, because they partner with Walgreens to use there. The class I took was what to expect in the first 6 weeks after birth. Class came with PowerPoint slides and the teacher was super cool. She did a q and a in the middle and at the end of class. I did it with my partner and it is online only. Class was mixed with new parents who just gave birth some a couple days, some baby was a couple weeks and expecting parents like me! Next class I’m taking is next week for breast feeding.
