Surviving a cold without Sudafed and Night Nurse

Doctor told me to sit in a steamy bathroom… don’t get faint though!

Also to drink any liquids warm, even if it’s just warm water as it helps to keep mucus loose 🤢 also to spit out anything you cough up to help avoid a chest infection 🤢🤢

Normal doses of paracetamol for pain or a temperature are fine.

thank you 🙏 will try that! Paracetamol seems to take the edge off the headache and achey legs but it’s the congestion that is so bad and I feel like I’m choking on mucus. Sorry if TMI!

I've just been through this without the usual lemsip meds etc. It's SO awful! I put the shower on hot before bed each night and just sat in the steam to breathe for a while. Did the same most mornings too, and used paracetamol for the sore throat and head, and vapo rub on my chest to try and clear the breathing. Drink tonnes of water! I fully feel your pain 🤒

I don’t have any other cold symptoms but have pretty crazy congestion and am also basically choking on mucus which wakes me up at night. I have no advice other than try and sleep upright, although not the most comfortable and use some saline spray.

I just had one over new year, it was a struggle. I had paracetamol, honey and lemon and tea. Also had to put my head over a bowl of boiling water to clear my nose and drink loads of water.

Ugh I was so pissed off when I had a horrendous cold and could do nothing, my husband got the same cold and was dosed up on cold and flu and lemsip etc 🙄😂

No advice but just to say I feel your pain. I’m just getting over it now after about 10 days. I just took as low a dose of paracetamol as I could when I really felt like death and drank loads of water, fresh orange and decaf tea. Must have gone through about 3 boxes of tissues 🤧

Sterimar saline spray for the congestion (will say on the box if suitable for pregnancy) and follow the instructions for it to work properly. Vicks do a few products which on their website say are safe for pregnancy (check first before buying as one of the nasal sprays is not suitable). Rest and plenty of fluids. Paracetamol for headaches and congestion pain.
