Diet

I think my baby has CMPA but I haven’t gone to the GP yet as his symptoms is quite mild. He has a bit of rash, vomits most feeds and is sometimes fussy when Breastfeeding. For any mums out there that have continued breastfeeding and have gone dairy free. Can you give me an insight as to what you eat daily please. I really don’t want to stop breastfeeding

You can get diary free alternatives for pretty much everything. Vegan cheese is hit and miss, but in my experience all other substitutes taste the same or better. You may also want to consider cutting out soya. A lot of CMPA babies suffer with soy allergy too. That is harder, as a lot of diary free stuff is soy based. It’s manageable though, you just need to read the labels and you’ll soon get used to what you can and can’t have. Good luck xx

I didn’t find it too difficult - I changed to oat milk in my coffees and bought plant based butter.
It’s just a matter of checking labels but I don’t feel it has impacted my diet that much.
Survive on bourbons and Oreo’s as a treat as I used to love chocolate ☺️

We use oatly cream and creme Fraiche (as a substitute for sour cream). Plant based butter, oat milk and avoid meals that require cheese (as I haven’t found a vegan cheese I like). Vegan chocolate.
It means we can cook almost anything except cheesy dishes.
We do cook most meals (and always have). Processed foods and ready meals are much harder as most of them have milk and if you do want this type of food, the easiest way is to look for vegan.
I read every label on pre-packaged food - I once got caught out by milk powder in a new muesli.
I also didn’t want to give up breastfeeding and glad I continued!
