Nutramigen to Neocate switch

Hi - my little one has been on nutramigen for 5 weeks but we are switching to Neocate as he’s still really unsettled. Of his first 3 bottles of Neocate he’s been sick - at least half the bottle has come back up. Has anyone else found this when moving to Neocate? Want to make sure it’s the right switch. Thanks xx

My daughter was on nutramigen & other milks & it did nothing for her we switched to neocate & she transformed into a completely different baby overnight. Hope your little one settles soon xx

My LO went from pepti to neocate due to his CMPA and reflux. I found it originally made his reflux worse, smaller sick but more often. He was then put on reflux meds and it haven’t been an issue.

Nutramigen still contains a small amount of cows milk which can take some time to leave the system, neocate contains none so will soon settle your little ones CMPA and work wonders. It is however a thinner milk, so may need thickening if your little one suffers reflux (gaviscon sachets are a good option however can cause constipation) or a crushed up rusk could also thicken milk but always check ingrediants for allergens x

can I ask which reflux meds you have? My little boy is on neocate and was told to add carobel to thicken to help with reflux. It did stop him throwing up but I feel like he was still in pain with reflux. The carobel also made him constipated after 2 days so I am at a loss now what to do 🙁

he started on gaviscon before being moved to omeprazole and then lansoprazole. I would highly suggest trying gaviscon and if something stronger is needed trying to go straight to lansoprazole.

I waited from September till November waiting for an omeprazole prescription to be delivered but due to the national shortage I was swapped to lansoprazole and haven’t had that problem. Longest I had to wait was the 5 days to get it in stock before he started it

My baby has been on Nutrimigen formula since he was a week old due to a milk allergy. But after weekly trips to the drs for god knows how long with eczema flare ups getting worse, forever not settling up every hour, silent reflux his whole life with omeprezol barely helping, and a bunch of other symptoms online said he’s allergic to nutrimgen. So upset just want my happy baby to not be so irritable and exhausted and agitated all the time. Finally the dr is changing his milk after trying all other options to neocate, praying this helps it all 🩷😭
