Nappy rash

My lg has “nappy rash” and it’s not going away. We were using ALDIs Mamia nappies from birth to about 6 weeks and she had really bad nappy rash which we found was due to the nappies so we’ve switched to Tesco Fred & Flo and it’s gone down dramatically but there’s still a little bit that just won’t go away. Weve switched to the fred&Flo wipes to see if that helps and are currently using the yellow metanium cream but as of yet it’s not seeming to help which makes me think it’s something else. Any suggestions? X

Maybe you could try using cotton wool and water, making sure you dry the area after, until the rash goes away?

Also I'd suggest trying a different cream and see if that does anything 😊

If you're worried, speak to your health visitor, they might be able to suggest something else

My LG had nappy rash for weeks, we tried different creams and nappies but it turned out to be thrush, we have a prescription cream from the gp now which is clearing it up.

My LG suffered so much less when we stopped using cream (as recommended by our midwife). Just making sure she’s dry before putting a new nappy on made all the difference.

Sudocreme! The tiniest red bun I put a bit of sudocreme on and by the morning it’s completely back to normal. Magical stuff ! X

I use sudocrem and it clears it really quickly

Maybe try sudosalve. This has worked for me when nothing else has x

We absolutely swear by the metanium! When my little boy was born, he quickly developed a really sore bum, the best thing we did was to give him time without his nappy on after each change (we wrapped him in a muslin/blanket in case of mess still but let him air out), gave him a good 10 minutes or so then put the metanium on and a fresh nappy :) xx

Metanium clears my girl up so quickly! Definitely dry after the wipes and air out with open nappy where you can xx

same here! I second Bepanthen, only thing that worked for us! We also used the aldi nappies and switched to Sainsburys and they are great x

Not everyone's cup of tea but hand washing and pat drying with a dry flannel (all wipes are abrasive and contain some alcohol), then bepanthen. I EBF so my LB is constantly poo'ing, before I did this he was sore for days but found this sorted him out within the day.
P.s. I don't hand wash with every change... only when he gets sensitive.

Did you have any colostrum from before the birth? I used some of that when we had nappy rash from Huggies wipes and it honestly cleared it up in 1 day

Avatar

I used cooled boiled water and cotton wool. Then just vaseline. Cleared in 2 days. Sainsburys nappies were the culprit
