episiotomy/ vontouse delivery

So I had a pretty traumatic birth which resulted in me haemorrhaging and losing 2 litres of blood.

I had a episiotomy and graze. I’ve still been really sore and I’m 9 weeks post partem. At my 6 week check I was given antibiotics for swelling. I went back to gp today as it just doesn’t feel right. I also felt like I could feel a hole where my scar is.

The gp basically made me feel stupid. Asking me if I’m a first time mum and telling me things down there will never be the same and basically it is what it is.

She said the hole I can feel and see it’s a fold in my skin from where I’ve been stitched up basically and it shouldn’t cause me any issues but if it does to go back.

The ‘hole’ is like when you sow up a rip on clothing and pull the stitches tight.

I appreciate I may never be the same again but my friend also had an episiotomy and has heeled fine with a small scar but I’m expected to be okay being left with this hole Type thing.

It’s made me feel really upset if I’m honest. Has anyone else been through something similar. Am I suppose to just accept it?

You should ask to get a second opinion. Don’t settle if you feel it isn’t right x I’m so sorry that this was your experience.

Yes I am similar, I don’t have a hole as such anymore as I’m 15 weeks pp, but there is like a dint in my scar which felt like a hole a bit ago. My GP also made me feel like I was over exaggerating but I also had a 3rd degree tear so see a pyhsio who is AMAZING, did you get referred to one?

You may not have been stitched properly. I can't imagine it's supposed to be like that. Mine certainly wasn't. As others have said, maybe get a second opinion.

no I didn’t. It feels like I’ve just been left to get on with it 😭

this is exactly what I think or maybe one of my stitches came open which I wasn’t aware of and it’s healed like that. But they just said it is what it is basically. I’m not sure whether to pay to go private but at the same time I don’t see why I should have to 😭

I've got something similar - GP said it's like two 5p sized skin tags. They've done me a gynaecologist referral to have it checked. I'd ask your GP for a gynae referral 😊

Definitely get a second opinion but also know that it can take some time to heal and feel "normal" down there. I had an episiotomy and forceps delivery with my first and was in discomfort for months and months. The hospital said it was likely scar tissue/granulation and basically to give it time before coming back. If I'm honest it took 6 months + to feel more comfortable and I didn't feel fully better until I got my period back (as dryness/no oestrogen made the area feel even worse). On the other hand I healed very quickly from my second birth. It can be very dispiriting when you feel like you're still not right and you're being dismissed. I hope you start to feel better soon.
