So I work FT as does my husband. I brought up reducing my hours to spend just 1 day a week with my daughter and he flipped out. He can 100% afford to step in a little to help out with some of my expenses but won't even sit to talk about his budget or spending so we can figure things out. I'm not even asking to quit my job or even for more money from him. Just his support and to see if there are areas where we can budget better. He doesn't want to share his bank account details, pay details, or monthly spending. Im frustrated and wondering if he is hiding something or just jealous that I would only work 4 days instead of 5 full days. It's making me paranoid and resentful. Can anyone relate? Thoughts?

Your HUSBAND doesn’t want to tell you his pay details and what’s going in vs out of his account??? That’s super weird to me.

Seems off to me. I would feel way paranoid and resentful. I’m kind of in the same situation. We have different accounts and spilt the mortgage, I pay bills, he pays for groceries. . . He makes more than 3 times as much as me and I work full time from home taking care of our daughter. Plus more because I’m covering someone else while they are on maternity leave. He’s offered to pay for a babysitter but hasn’t offered for me to move to part time. I’m exhausted and I really didn’t think partners worked like this. We are not married and won’t be any time soon going down this track. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I hope you get something figured out. You can never get this time back.

Honestly this is super toxic response from him regardless of whatever the truth is. I’d say therapy and if he refuses I’d seriously reconsider this relationship.

Do you not have access to his statements and accounts? It would seem that the first red flag is in having zero access in the first place.

I'm sorry but this is weird. But I totally understand how you feel. My husband has a whole separate account from me as well. I don't know what he spends his money on. But up until recently we were both working me pt him ft. Now I can't work cause child care wouldn't even be worth me working. So I totally understand where your coming from. You agould tell him sit down with you and talk about it because your a team and you both should be 100% honest with each other. If he says no then ask him what he's hiding. Because there should be 0 reason why he can't show you or tell you any of that. Then tell him either way your doing it with or without his approval and he will have to help weather he likes it or not. Even if he leaves he will be forced to help you. So no matter what he will have to pay one way or another.

I dont have a job and I can see my husband banks 😕

I’m currently figuring this out. Before I had my son, my husband gave me the option to just stay home and take of our son. I declined, stating that I was not that type of female, I wanted to make my own money and didn’t want to lose my career that I took a lot of time on to get. Fast forward, 18 months later lol I be wondering what I will be missing out on if I continue givin all my time to work. I wonder how much things he will be behind on because I never have that type of time that I feel like he needs to be there n invest in him. Decided to have this talk with my husband, I told him I’ll work part time nights n Uber eats from time to time to make it less stress on him. He didn’t mind at all, didn’t ask me why or told me he didn’t understand… he has been very supportive in whatever I wanted to do. I don’t have to question his bank accounts, I don’t have to ASK to see them! I’m saying this because if you’re a team with someone, why not do what is best for the team? Why sit there and

Question your motives if the goal is to be there for each other? You’re not saying that you want to just quit your job and have more stress added to him. It’s obviously bothering you mentally to the point where you would like to change your current situation to make things a little bit better emotionally on you because Sis, I understand!! I really do understand when you’re working full time and having to leave everyday away from the one who you wish you can have indefinite time with! I be missing my son so much when I’m away everyday at work knowing I can’t get any of this time back! So my advice to you, is do what’s best for your mental health, do what’s best for your little girl and after explaining yourself multiple times… the man is just gone have to get it!! The hell if he do and the hell if he don’t!

I don’t have access to my husbands account but he literally pays all bills while I’m in school & home with our daughter. He does however go over $ in his account & we budget together. Feels strange your husband isn’t willing to even talk expenses with you.
