Does this sound fair?
I’m a primary teacher and work three days a week. As soon as I returned from mat leave I was given back my subject role which I do not get paid for. We are due ofsted soon and so the school are putting a lot of pressure and emphasis (and workload) on subject leads. Has anyone been in a similar position or have any advice?
I have a very challenging class this year and I just don’t have the time or energy to jump through all of these hoops!
Maybe I’m being unreasonable but I just don’t think any other line of work would expect so much extra work without anything in return.

I couldn’t believe it when my friend who works in primary said that they all have a subject responsibility which isn’t paid! Secondary teaching isn’t easy but at least we get paid if we have a responsibility. Is it in your contract that you need to take on responsibility for a subject?
My school is the same. All teachers lead a subject unpaid. It’s a lot! I agree lots of pressure. I’m going back soon and going to be really strict on myself where I can to set boundaries
@Sophie, it's different in different schools. I've worked in 3. Two gave TLR for subject responsibilities whereas one only gave it for "core subjects." It's just another way of "saving money," which is frustrating. I got a TLR for curriculum lead (while teaching a year 2 class!), but I didn't for being Computing Lead in another school where I actually did more!!x
