Inconsolable baby

Hi all my 8 month old has had a fever since yesterday evening (spiked around midnight last night at 102.5°) and has been between 99.3-101° today. We have been giving him Tylenol to help with the fever. We think he got a cold from his first week at daycare but he is completely inconsolable. He won’t eat or nurse or sleep. All he wants to do is scream which is so unlike my baby, he’s normally a very happy boy really easy to go to sleep. We’ve tried using the Frida baby windi to see if he has gas and I got some gas out as well as some very mucousy looking poop I’m really concerned and think we should take him to the hospital but I also don’t want to subject him to that unless we absolutely have to. Thoughts? Ideas? Something I might be missing?
