Vaccine fever?

My son got his 2nd hep A shot on Tuesday. He had a fever all day Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and has woken up with it still today. The highest it's gotten is 101. We've been giving him infant/toddler motrin to help, and it'll go down for 4-5 hours but always spikes right back up. I feel like it's more than just the vaccine but he doesn't have any other symptoms other than being tired and not eating much. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure at what point to call or visit a doctor with him...
(Also please no anti-vax, 'I would NEVER put that in my child's body' comments. Those are unhelpful and unwanted)

I personally have only been through one vaccine with my son, and he felt like crap afterwards, and he ran a fever whole nine yards more than likely is the vaccine but don’t ever be scared to contact your doctor if you feel it’s more than the vaccine

Id call your doctor, they can help you gauge if its serious or not and give you piece of mind. Plus its good for them to know cause theyre required to report side effects people get from the vaccine.

My son has always gotten temperatures with the vaccines. Usually it would last for about 48 hours. He also just got his Hep A shot this week. It could be that he picked up a virus during this time but I would give the pediatrician a call to see if it is related to the vaccine. Check to see if there’s any redness at the injection site on his leg and anything going down the leg.

Usually if it’s a vaccine fever it’s the first 24-48 hours and then it’s gone. Sounds more likely that he picked up a virus and it was brewing when he got the vaccine. Call your doctor and let them know how many days it’s been!

@Carlee with all his other shots he's only had a fever for a day or two, but also anytime he's sick even in the slightest he always gets super congested in his head and chest- but right now there's nothing! It's so weird all around. He did just get over an ear infection, but at his check up on Tuesday the Dr said his ears looked all clear so I'm like- what the heck is going on lol

@Roya he always gets a fever but it never lasts more than a day or two! But also anytime he's sick he always gets the worst chest congestion and he doesn't have anything like that! His leg looks totally normal too, there's not even a knot in his muscle or anything like he usually gets. It's a weird situation for him all around

definitely get him seen again if the fever continues more than 5 days or doesn’t respond to medication. If it were me I’d make a nurse call and just see their opinion. Did he have antibiotics for the ear infection? Could’ve moved into a sinus infection. Or just be a new cold. There’s so many kid viruses that cause just fever, roseola is one, high fever and a few days later they get a rash. Could be anything with these kids lol
