How heavy is your baby? Size 2-3 swimmers are from 3kg up (so basically newborn upwards). 9 week old is probably about 5kg so should be ok?

Swim nappy’s aren’t sized like normal nappies just to mess with our heads but as above these should be fine go by the weight on the nappy but with a young baby most pools require a disposable swim nappy then a reusable swim nappy over the top as newborn poop is more like liquid and these nappies don’t hold liquid only solid poop

in regards to double layers for young babies would a disposable swim nappy and a wetsuit overtop be acceptable in most pools? X

Most pools / swimming lessons say it has to be disposable swim nappy and then a ‘happy nappy’ style neoprene nappy (basically they are really really tight round the legs and waist so that if baby does a poo there’s no chance of it escaping - it will be held in the happy nappy/ neoprene nappy.

I would only feel comfortable using one of these nappies because I think a poo could easily leak from a disposable swim nappy with just a swim suit or wetsuit over the top because they are not tight enough to create a barrier - if that makes sense 😅

I took mine for the first time at 10 weeks wearing these and a wetsuit style costume. She didn’t poo so not sure if it would’ve been a disaster or not!

Most swimming places you have to wear a happy nappy over the top of swimming nappies, so I would save yourself buying the disposable ones and get a happy nappy duo x

Avatar

so do they literally wear just that and their swimming costume over the top?? Xx

Avatar

so do they just wear that and no disposable nappy underneath? X

We had to wear a normal swim nappy and then a happy nappy on top. When we went on holiday we only used normal swim nappies the first day and then a wetsuit on top and the nappy was rubbish by itself. Imo u really need that happy nappy.

I used
To put on swim nappy an just swim shorts on my boy and with my gold swim nappy and swimsuit never has issues at pool

He’s never worn disposables -normal or swim. I put on a reusable swim nappy and then his onesie swimming costume on top, even for lessons, they don’t check here at swim lessons and the reusable itself is enough to contain leaks if he did poo. If they checked all the babies, that will waste 5mins of swim time

You should use a disposable and a neoprene nappy over the top. You can pick up a neoprene nappy for around £3 on vinted. Yes places often don't check, but if their disposable nappy does leak it may be embarrassing for you and also its really not nice for anyone who uses the pool or fair for the staff who work there.

My son has never pood at his swimming lessons but it's not a risk I want to take 🤢

2-3 is the baby’s nappy size, 2 is considered newborn size anyway! So they should fit fine for your baby xx

These are great. No need for disposables. https://www.thewashablenappy.co.uk/products-listed-under-manufacturers/totsbots-nappies/swim-nappy-by-totsbots/

I’ve got those swim nappies in size 2-3 for my son. He’s 12 weeks but small for his age (weighs 11lbs) and they fit fine x

hey these look great. So wear these then a swim suit over the top? No need for anything else? Have you tried these? Thanks 😊
