Paracetamol instead of calpol

Does anyone NOT use calpol and only use paracetamol?
I always use homeopathic remedies but occasionally I would like to have paracetamol to use but I am unsure on dosage. I’ve spoke to my pharmacist and they only suggest calpol which I don’t use..
Anyone else?

Calpol is a brand name of liquid paracetamol

Toddlers can't swallow paracetamol tablets, so its in liquid form as Calpol and other brands

Calpol is kids paracetamol, it’s the most popular so that’s why it’s confusing. You can get non branded liquid paracetamol for kids. Ask your pharmacy what other brands they have.

Em…sorry but I’d Go to another pharmacist hun? Every one I know would suggest the cheaper brands of liquid paracetamol or even their own brand e.g you’re in boots, Superdrug or Tesco
Or ours is called Peak pharmacy n they just show you the medication and instructions even read thru with yiu.
Calpol is just a brand and I think you paying more for additives that it taste better and the tube if I’m honest, they come in handy but you can get a syringe from pharmacy if the child wont take medication by spoon 🥄.

And for kids you can get it free by filling in a form at the pharmacy

Sorry to clarify - I don’t use calpol because it’s full of crap so I just want paracetamol alone, in its purest form. To give my children when needed..

Thankyou! I’ve just googled liquid paracetamol and 100% paracetamol has come up that can use for children.
Don’t know why the pharmacist didn’t just tell me about liquid paracetamol!
She was trying to guilt me about not using calpol I think. Anyway thanks!

The pharmacist is right, you can’t get 100% paracetamol. The dose of the active ingredient would be far too small (you wouldn’t be able to measure it out or administer it) so it has to be mixed with other ingredients. There are other brands of liquid paracetamol other than calpol but they will also contain other excipients as well as the paracetamol active ingredient x

I didn’t know that!
