I've been washing baby clothes for the last couple of weeks because I'm due in 5 weeks and I've been using a colour catcher sheet in each wash and only washing the clothes in the same groups of colours as I've been worried about them getting ruined and the dye running as it's the first time they've been washed. This means some loads are hardly anything and I'm having to wash about 7 small things on their own. Am I being over the top in separating into similar colours? Should I just be doing whites on their own and everything else together but with the colour catcher sheet? As an example, these two piles I'd put in as two separate washes one with the greys and greens and the other the blues. Would you put them in together or do what I'm doing and keep separate. - just a bit cautious as my love to dream sleeping swaddle bag is in this pile and would be so upset if that was ruined as they're quite pricey!

Have to say iv never separated colours with my own washing as I always wash at 30 degrees so never been an issue, I wash everything together and colours haven’t run, even washing baby’s stuff for the first time x

I do darks, lights and whites and I wash all our stuff together at 30/40degrees and never had issues x

Me neither I wash everything together. I use tide clear and gentle in cold water. Have not had any issues. And as a new mom you will literally be doing laundry every day so really it will get too hard to separate

Darks, light colours and whites is a good rule. I put most of babies things in a single mixed load (pastels & whites go together), but I wash any items that are dark colour separately.

I literally throw everything in together on a 40 degree wash and chuck in two colour catchers, and have never had an issue with colours running. The only thing I avoid doing this with is if there's a new pair of jeans or a new bright red item of clothing. All of those items in your picture can 100% be put in together, and of you're still concerned, double up on the colour catchers like I do - it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper in the long run than doing a tonne of separate washes!!!

Clothes are made differently now a days where you don’t need to separate them. Vintage clothes do color bleed and so do some handwashing only clothes.

Honestly I just chuck the majority of my babies stuff in all together, 60° if his clothes are more soiled than usual, and 30°/40° if not or if there's something I really don't want to risk. The only things I wash separately are his woollen items.

You are doing what you think is best. So do you momma. We all do laundry differently but if you think you’re being over the top then maybe? I don’t think you are! You are just taking care of the clothes. Do you girl! I did the same thing. And not one pair of clothes of my babies has been thrown away.

I do lights, colours and darks. So I’d put all that in together apart from the dark blue item and put that with darks. Never had an issue with babies clothes running!

You can put all the baby clothes together, the key is to use a gentle cycle , cold or warm water max and use a gentle soap like Molly suds.

When the baby gets here you won’t have time or mental space to separe clothes, it’s unnecessary and not sustainable.

The only colours that run are bright red and bright blue. Everything else should be fine. If you are suspicious of an item that may color run, soak it a lil and if you see bleeding in the water then hand wash it. I find the red Xmas or Valentines Day baby clothes run color only- others are fine. But if you’re using color catchers like you said, there’s no reason to separate

Do I need special detergent for babies clothes

The only colors I’ve ever really worried about washing together was red and white, but all the rest I just throw in together and wash with cold water. Should be fine.
