I had a visit from my HV a few weeks ago (baby is now 11 months). She said at this age she wouldn’t waste money on buying more formula and would start to wean onto cows milk.
I thought it was quite early so waited a few weeks and then a couple of days ago I started adding some cows milk to his formula.
However, he has started having diarrhoea (sometimes not a lot just a little when he farts) and now awful nappy rash, he is crying in pain when I change him - it breaks my heart. I am using creams and changing nappies very often.
No other symptoms, he’s not unsettled or doesn’t appear in pain (other than after a nappy change).
Maybe not eating as much but I know he has one of his top teeth coming through which I was putting it down to.
Maybe he has a milk intolorence but he has always been fine with formula, milk in his food and he loves cheese so surely he shouldn’t have a intolerance?
I think I am going to go back to formula only and cut dairy out of his diet, then slowly introduce it back?
Has anyone got any advice or had similar?
I have massive mum guilt that maybe I will have caused issues that maybe long term with starting it too soon. And also from him being in pain 😭😭
Sorry for the long post

If he is fine with it in cereal etc I can’t imagine he has an intolerance x
that’s what I thought and I breastfed for 5 months, I always drank milk and he didn’t have any issues then.
I’m wondering if maybe it’s linked to teething or a bug and I am just completely over thinking it all and in a few days he maybe fine 🤞😅

You can always try oat milk or something and see if that makes a difference.

As ur changing him often opt for warm water and cotton wool for clean ups helps massively with nappy rash n it's alot nicer for then than cold wipes. I had to do it with my LG when she was ill.
I will give this a go thank you!! X

My little one had really bad nappy rash and diarrhoea when her top teeth came through. Hopefully it’s down to that and not an intolerance! X

We went through a really bad nappy stage throughout December - we had creams upon creams upon prescription creams and the best thing what worked for us was advice from the health visitor. She told us to carry on with the Luke warm baths and wiping with cotton wool pads and water (no wipes) and use bepanthan cream first (or another oil based cream) and then the metainium cream (the yellow one on top) for every change. Plenty of nappy free time as well which is hard work when they are steam balling across the landing! Hope he feels better soon 🩵
I hope so! thank you! I will give this a go, he has been up most the night now with vomiting aswell so think I may call the doctor in the morning. Thinking it’s a stomach bug as he hasn’t had any cows milk today only his formula x

The rash could be due to the teething? My girl gets an awful rash when her teeth are bad. I’ve found metanium works best for us (just watch as it stains clothes) and try and have some nappy free time. If you’re worried about allergies maybe contact HV/GP but I wouldn’t have thought so if he’s been having it before with no issues
thank you so much!
