When did you tell your employer about your pregnancy?
I’m 21 weeks and I’m 2 months into my new job. I love the job, company is on multiple lists of best top employers in the country for young people and etc. Company prenatal policy is great and says they want to support parents and don’t make us choose between work and family. But I’m a bit nervous because I’m on probation technically until end of February.
I do go into the office once a week and I’m showing quite a bit. I think it will be weird telling them when I’m 28 weeks lol.
Also department I work in always hiring and we share work, so they don’t necessarily need to hire someone to cover my duties. But I do wanna give a heads up that I’m planning to work for as long as possible close to my due date.
I really wanna not feel like I’m hiding when I go into the office but also super anxious despite my performance being really good. 🥲

I told my boss shortly after the first trimester. If your workplace is a good one, don't be afraid to tell them. They're not allowed to fire you if you're pregnant.. whether you're on probation or not.

I also started a new job just around the time I found out I was pregnant. I had such a secretive complex around the pregnancy and when I did finally bring it up it was really not a big deal like I had made it out to be haha. I really hope the same happens for you.
I was fairly vague - I got a Sept 1st job, spoke to my boss in early November (5 months along ish) and just said “I’m due in the early spring and wanted to let you know so I can help prepare for my replacement blah blah… we can work out a precise date once I have more info from my doctor” that way no one is sitting there doing math while you’re in the room 😅

I was 2 months into my probation when I told my employer and 20 weeks, I totally get the fear ! Luckily my employer was wonderful about it, caught off guard because I was further along than the typical “announcement” but I was starting to show and it was getting annoying to hide

I waited until I passed my probation. Usually once.you say you're pregnant not many employers will fire you so you should be ok that way.
Up to you and how comfortable you feel. I think you just have to give them 4 weeks notice for mat leave so go until then, lol.

I told them right away because my symptoms were intense and I knew my union would protect my employment.

I told my boss when I was 16 weeks but I'm working for the company almost 3 years, so it's a bit different. Good luck but I don't think they can fire you just because you're pregnant.

Wait untill you finish your probation please! After that you tell your supervisor. Same thing happened to me 2022 , Good luck.
I had a consult with legal and they said it makes no difference really because you’re protected under human rights. 😅 it’s just super obvious when you’re halfway into the second trimester.

The thing is one can be dismissed during probation, doesn’t matter if you’re pregnant or not. That’s why I suggested you to finish probation. My boss jokingly said to someone during a meeting now I can’t fire you after the guy finished probation.
I got a new job in Jan 2022 and found out I was pregnant Feb 1st. I told my employer in April. . All good , do what you feel is best for you hun! Congratulations on your baby.
thing is I want to return and we have great benefits for parents. I started when I was 12 weeks, I’m already 21 now. 😅 Our parental leave policy says to let them know as soon as we can preferably 4 months ahead so they can have a plan for transition to mat leave and return to work later on.
Legal confirmed that human rights apply regardless of probation. If I’m doing well and they suddenly let me go after I tell them about pregnancy it’s strong grounds for lawsuit. For the size and reputation of our company and our presence in legal I don’t think they would let me go. Plus both my supervisor and her manager (people I need to notify) are mothers themselves, latter one recently was on leave herself. So I’m pretty sure they should be more supportive. I’m a great employee and I like the job so fingers crossed all is good.

I told when I was 24w and my probation was done. I purposely waited u til my probation was done AND I hit viability.

I didn’t find out I was pregnant till 6 months . But I still didn’t tell them I will tell them I’ll be 28 weeks 😂 but they already know I have a friend at my job who told the whole staff I’m like damn seriously girl smh 🤦♀️

If you’re still in probation I would wait till you’re done that just incase. They can’t legally fire you for being pregnant but during your probation they can just say they don’t think it’s working out or anything else. Personally I wasn’t in probation and one job I told the week I found out and the other job I told a little over 3 months in

Your employer cannot fire you because of a pregnancy. I started a new job March 2021 and found out I was pregnant May 2021. My employer said your covered under human rights act.
