Cerclage

Hey lovelies, I am currently 10w6 and due to have a cerclage put in at 14 weeks. I was wondering if anyone can tell me from their personal experience what it was like? I lost my first pregnancy due to incompetent cervix in feb 2023 and my OBGYN has given me the facts but I just want to have a rough idea on what to expect. Pain? Healing time? How did you and your partner go not having intercourse until after bubs was born? Etc. I posted on a couple groups on fb and have had no response so thought I’d try here. Thank you in advance 😊

It’s usually quick. They bring you in and give you a spinal injection to numb you (similar to an epidural but not as bad) then does the cerclage. You will feel some pressure while they’re doing it but nothing major. After you’ll be a little sore down there but will leave same day as it’s not a huge procedure where you have to stay overnight

I’ve had 2 cerclage surgeries, the first tvc McDonald stitch which failed resulting in a 20 week loss . The surgery I got was super easy I got put to sleep and left in 2 hrs no pain nothing just groggy . 2nd cerclage was a tac pain recovery was 7-10 got out to sleep as well 3 day stay in hospital and needed help recovering for a week but then I was fine. It’s a c-section scar and permanent no intercourse for both cerclage because of risk of cervix damage so me and hubby just connected while having fun doing stuff we both enjoyed together
