Hello! So my little guy just got his 2 month immunizations this morning. I was getting him ready for bed and thought he felt kind of warm. I checked his temp with a forehead thermometer and it read 98.0. I didn’t believe it so I checked his temp using a rectal thermometer, which read 100.8, he was just dressed in sweatpants and a sweatshirt, if that matters at all? I also gave him Tylenol at 3 this afternoon because he was pretty cranky. My daughter never reacted to immunizations so this is new to me. Dr. said I can give him Tylenol but at what point should I be concerned? If I should be concerned at all? Which is more accurate, a rectal temp or forehead reading? TIA

Rectal is usually more accurate. And 100.8 is definitely high. When my daughter got a fever of 100.1 they sent me out of the ER and told me to come back if she gets up to 100.4.
I would keep checking his temp every half hour or so and if it doesn't look like it's dropping, then I'd take him in just to be sure he's okay.

My baby just got his 2 month shots today as well. He's definitely extra fussy but no temp so far. Our doctor said to only be concerned if his temp doesn't go down at all after using Tylenol.

Fever after immunizations is expected, give Tylenol & monitor

My baby had a fever/ very normal! I had her in a diaper and a nice cool wash cloth on her head while we did skin to skin!!! Seemed to help tremendously!
