Hey ladies, so my little boy has to start weaning at 4 months due to CMPA but if we’re starting early when would you introduce solid food?

I would ask whoever advised you to start early

4 months is the now normal age for weaning according to nhs… our gp also told us this as our 11 week old son has cmpa and I questioned why 4 months as with my older children it was already 6 months but apparently all changed (they are 13 & 14 now)

But saying that it is also only very small amounts to try them with not a milk replacement.

This is why I said very small amounts a couple spoons full at most. And isn’t a milk replacement

That's strange, my GP and health visitor have both told me 6 months and my girl has CMPA x
this was his dietician’s decision as he’s under allergy clinic and dietician X

Yeah my girl is under an allergy clinic and dietician too and it's all 6 months for us, just curious as to why they said 4 months for u but 6 for us. They've said keep her on nutramigen only until 6 months x
oh really! I was told yesterday by dietitian it benefits them at 4 months instead of 6 because it gives their little bodies a longer ease into the typical allergy foods and hopefully they build intolerances to them! X

So interesting, I'll question her gp again and ask why some say 4 months when we get her 2nd jabs done. Ty x

nhs guidance is still 6 months as per their website, not 4.

This is what we was told by the gp who diagnosed with cmpa

yea I’ve heard of being different for cmpa, but overall the general age is still 6 months.

Weaned at 17 weeks with my first & will be weaning at 17 weeks with my second

Pretty sure there is now research proving weaning too early can cause ibs... Xx

not for every child..
weaned my first at 17 weeks and has never had any health issues ect and perfectly healthy. (I know that’s not the case for everyone)

the research Lisa is talking about shows the effects in adult life, so you wouldn’t actually know yet whether it’s done any harm because the digestive issues start in 20-30 year olds.

ok, wasn’t trying to cause an argument lol. Ahh well, see what my daughter is like in about 20 years time then😂

nobody is trying to start an argument, just offering more information on the topic.

perfect👍🏻

Im not in a rush to wean mine, I already live with one person with ibs, I ain't risking another 😂😂😂
