How is Houston?

I’m thinking about moving from Baltimore to Houston because it seems more affordable. But I’ve never been to Houston, I just always wanted to move there because I’ve heard how beautiful it is. Is the move worth it? I have a 9 month old daughter

Mmm it’s not as beautiful as everyone makes it seem it’s probably better to move to the outskirts of Houston !

what would be considered the outskirts, can you name a few places?

I like city life, I’m from Baltimore City. & I have a car so getting around wouldn’t be hard

Yeah definitely cypress, spring ,Pearland, sugar land, humble ice been in the city my whole life I grew up here so I feel like it definitely is nice but now that I have a daughter I feel like the outskirts is safer cleaner Less crackheads and homeless people around out there it’s beautiful but chaotic it’s nice to still be close but live in peace !!!

We’ve had a 135% increase in road rage shooting since 2016 driving with the impatient drivers is going to be the biggest thing in general crime is getting worse BUT other than that it’s nice big and I’ve lived here all my life and still find places I haven’t seen :)

Dallas is way better in my opinion! I’ve live in Houston for 8 months and the people here suck 😂

I would say if you do decide move to the outskirts city’s which still isn’t a far drive from the city. I moved from downtown to a little past humble in a new development town and I like it way better , feels safer and you see kids outside with police living in the neighborhood🤣 the city about 30min away if I wanna go down for some eats or an event but for the safety of myself and children it just was a smart and more affordable move, you can move into a house for under $1800 3/4 beds type thing.
Katy & Cypress are also getting a lot of new builds , Houston just BIG AF so it’s space everywhere to me tbh

what city do you live in? I am wanting to move up North and curious what area you’re in so I can do some searching

Came from california. I don’t like it here. Plain and simple. If it weren’t for my husband and his employment we’d just leave . We live in cypress. Don’t move to the heart of houston.

agree here

I’ve move from Maryland to Houston 4 months ago . I’m from Louisiana so I’m south person . But it’s definitely way different than east coast I think you would love it. It’s definitely wayyy cheaper , you have to have a car, always fun but it’s much more slower than the east coast time is a hr behind . I’m sure what you pay for a 1 bed room there you can pay same price for a 2 or 3 or even get a house for rent for the prices you pay their .

What ever choose check the reviews girlie ..

Spring or Klein tx is great! Affordable, family oriented, great schools and neighborhoods, hardly any crime, about 30mins from downtown Houston, the outskirts are definitely better for family living. Definitely do your research and read reviews! Some areas that are affordable are horrible and not safe at all! People will rob you in daylight at a red light, or steal your purse while your pumping gas on the other side of your car! Road rage is horrible out here as well as traffic!
