When can the babies nap upstairs/different room?

My little boy turned 4 months on the 25th I have two other children (5 and 3) and for the life of me I can't remember. At what age can they nap in a separate room or upstairs? My little boy only takes cat naps during the day and he gets super grumpy and I think it's because he's getting woke up by his siblings or the light. Seems to nap longer when it's dark and quiet but staying with him while he naps means I'm not able to get anything done. I'm worried of the risk of SIDS and don't want to leave him too early. Thanks ☺️

The guideline is 6 months, but you do what's comfortable for you! I've been trying to get my 4 month old to get used to taking naps in his crib (as he won't sleep in there at night) so I'm leaving him upstairs but I have the baby monitor on me at all times and ngl I check it approx every 2 minutes 🫣😂

My LB is still in his next to me and is really good at sleeping in there in the night but he's so restless during the day unless the older two are in school so I'm just assuming they wake him up bless him! Yeah I think I'll get a camera monitor and possibly trial it but I'll be the same checking it every 2 minutes 😭😂

Oh okay amazing! I'll double check with my health visitor but I'll get a video monitor first so at least I can watch him x

Napping in a different room - we've been doing it since about 6 weeks old. Camera in room, and I just keep the monitor with me as I'm doing things around the house. Weird tip to help with the breathing/SIDS anxiety when in another room. Pop something on their chest - like a dummy, and you'll see it going up and down on the camera.

I started from around 5/6 weeks just with a monitor on, I did it mainly for nighttime’s as he was going to sleep at 7 and I wanted alone time or time with my partner rather than having to stay upstairs from that time or have him downstairs and then disturb him whilst taking him upstairs when we did go up. But I did it with naptimes too x

We have done naps upstairs since she was 8wks old. We just take the tablet round the house with us so we always have a visual. We also use a black out blind as she’s a nosey devil

We live in a flat so I do leave him in the bedroom in the cot with a monitor on and check on him every 20 mins or so. Otherwise if we have come from a walk I’ll leave him in the hallway in his carrycot if he’s still asleep (obvs making sure nothing loose around him)

Since about 4 months with a monitor and constant checks xx

Amazing thank you ladies! I've ordered a video monitor now and I'll use the Dummy on the chest idea so I can make sure it's moving xx

We started at around 3 months as I have a toddler here too (she’s 2 today!) and she was waking the baby up during every nap and it was just hard work x

I started my current 4.5 months old napping in the cot alone at 3pm this in the day. My I put the monitor open and the door and just sat in the next room. However she is my only children so bit more difficult for you 🥰. Her cot is in our room so at night she is with us xxx
