Has anyone tried the midwives brew and it put them into labor within 24 hours??

I’m currently 38w2d and I’m ready to have her. I’m exhausted. I’m having a lot of pelvic pain, I have a lot of Braxton hicks or maybe actual contractions a day. I’m already 2cm dilated. It probably doesn’t help that I’m still working 8-10 hours shifts on my feet all day also. But I just want some opinions on the brew before trying it myself.

I did with my son, at first I was hesitant about the castor oil but then found out being induced was far worse and that the other ingredients in the brew cancel out the negative effects of CO 🥴 I drank it at like 9pm/10pm and after did labor inducing exercises from YouTube and had contractions by 4am !

Ooooh, girl what recipe did you use? I’m a week and 2 days overdue, we’re ready for little miss to come out😂

Avatar

how many weeks were you when you did the brew?

Avatar

2 TBSP castor oil, lemon verbena tea, almond butter and apricot juice

Avatar

37, I was over it 😭 I’m 37 weeks now and they’re planning on inducing me Friday since he’s measuring 9lbs so I’m gonna try again with this pregnancy Thursday

Avatar

girl I’m over it too. I constantly have cramps that feel like a period with back pain along with pelvic pain/pressure. I think I’m might go ahead and give it a try today.

Avatar

that’s exactly what was happening with my son and why I drank it 😭🤣 I’ve heard that you’re supposed to do it on an empty stomach (which I didn’t) so I would suggest that and go to the park after and take a long walk, warning you though that the drink is fckn DISGUSTING 😭 but if you do, let me know how it goes , I’m doing the same Thursday if he doesn’t come on his own 🩷 good luck !

Avatar

also to add, I went to the hospital and got admitted at 11am and my son was born at 9pm !

Avatar

did it make you nauseous/vomit or have diarrhea? I know the almond butter is supposed to make the CO stick better but I’m curious.

Avatar

surprisingly no, lol me and my mom were just talking about that the other day 🤣 she took co to induce my sisters and said she didn’t poop either 🥴… I was actually hoping to poop because I was so constipated when I was pregnant with my son 😂 but after I had him I remember like an hour later I went poop, it wasn’t diarrhea though it was more of like a loose stool which I was honestly thankful for because my coochie felt like a black hole 😭 as for vomiting, I was nauseous my whole pregnancy with him so I don’t know if that had anything to do with the co, I do remember when he started crowning and I felt it I had to throw up

Avatar

lmao 🤣 well good to know. The last few days I’ve honestly been pooping a lot. I get bad cramps thinking it’s gonna be diarrhea but it’s just really soft stool. I lost bits of my mucus plug a few days ago I was hoping I’d be in labor on my own already.

Avatar

I don’t recommend anything with castor oil, it can be dangerous for the baby

Avatar

it’s so crazy because I’m literally going through the same thing 😭 I lost my mucus plug and was spotting like 3 weeks ago and I’ve been like 4cm since then too 😭 this baby is just being super stubborn

Avatar

I’m 40 weeks today and idk what to do. I don’t want to be induced 😩

Pitocin is far worse for your baby… my midwife said castor oil is thought of as dangerous because some people take the whole bottle in one sitting… if baby isn’t ready that can lead to false contractions which can put the baby in distress but 2 Tbsp isn’t harmful, if you’re talking about the baby possibly pooping ; she also told me that overdue babies have a higher chance of pooping in the womb . Women who take castor oil usually do it past their due date so chances are those women’s babies were already going to poop anyway . Anyway , the midwives brew cancels out the laxative properties of the castor oil which is why some midwives recommend it rather than straight castor oil… she also said the good thing about midwives brew is that if your body isn’t ready then it won’t work, rather than going to get induced and having Pitocin force your baby out 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t agree. Giving my opinion and you need to respect that. Everyone here can research and find out what they want to do, based on our comments.

Avatar

and you need to respect mine as well 🥰 I was just giving insite . There’s no scientific evidence showing it was dangerous based on the research I did , but yessss allow anyone who’s thinking about it to do their own research 🩷 have a great rest of your day ! 🫶🏽

Avatar

I’ve opted for a membrane sweep. From what I’ve read and heard from other mamas, it can be just as effective as medical induction and take about the same amount of time with less risk to you or baby.

Avatar

keep me posted on the castor oil ! 😭🤣 i don’t wanna be induce medically either and i have tried all mexican remedies to get this baby out and they have all failed that is my last resort

my dr are pushing for a c section 😒

Avatar

I was. I didn’t link anyone to my post, unlike you. My research showed the dangers of castor oil on the baby. Again, let the people on here look at the responses and they can research themselves to make a decision.

Avatar

lol okay 🤣 and my research showed it didn’t . Like I said, have a great day ! 🩷

Yes lady!!! I did it with my second 18m ago and it was such an ideal birth. I would do it again in a heartbeat! You wont get sick. And its super efficient.

Avatar

you just took it 😭 how you feeling ? i wanna do it

Avatar

girl go have sex 😭 I took a spoonful of co (could have been a coincidence, I’ve been constipated so was like fck it 🤣) my water broke last night after sex 🥴

Avatar

girl I’m not even interested in sex which is surprising for me🤣 I’ve decided to just let her come when she’s ready. If not I’ll be induced next Tuesday.

Avatar

what’s weird is I haven’t either !! And Monday night I randomly was like “hmmm 🥵” 🤣 I finally gave birth though at 1am 🥴 I automatically thought to tell you in case it was something you haven’t tried, but yess that’s true ! At the end of the day if she’s not ready nothing will work, she in there chillinnn 🤣

Avatar

it was amazing! 2 hrs later i was having 2.5 min con tractions and it stayed like that. I left for the hospital 3hrs later, was seen two hours later...1 hour drive and a mix up at the front desk. Breathed for 1 hour, bath for 1 hour, laughing gas for an hour then quickly transitioned from like 6 to 9cm dilated and pushed for 40 mins. My baby had passed meconium on me minutes after birth but she was all good. Ideak birth!!

18 months ago! Not 18mins hahah
