Sure Start Maternity Grant

Hello everyone! I have recently sent my application for a sure start maternity grant and I’m now getting paranoid I didn’t do it right.

On the website it mentioned I didn’t need a stamp or anything and just needed to send it to ‘FREEPOST DWP SSMG’, so what I did is I just got a normal plain envelope, wrote ‘FREEPOST DWP SSMG’ and put it in a post box. Was that right? Or did I need to go to the post office and send it in a special envelope? And do you know how long it normally takes for them to receive it? I sent it last Wednesday (Jan 31st).

Thanks !

I did the same as you..went through fine! You get a text to say they’ve got it and will process within 28 days x

Sorry to jump on this! I'm so confused with this as I've never heard about this before, are you eligible even if you just have the child tax credit which is £19 per week or have I got this confused with something else ?

I think if it is child tax credit you’re eligible but not if you receive child benefit which I think is the £19 a week. For instance, I’ve tried to apply for it because my partner receives Universal Credit. I’m not sure though - worth calling DWP they were really helpful!

do you mind me asking how long after sending it did you receive the text?
