Exhausted

Read my latest post so that this one makes more sense, but I basically let my doctor talk me into getting an induction because I thought maybe it’s better to be safe than sorry after all. I feel so upset with myself now because after staying at the hospital all day and all night I was sent home because I was barely dilating at all. To start off I was naturally already having some contractions 6-7 minutes apart when I came in to start my induction. They inserted something called cervidil which made my contractions super strong and intense and lasted all night which was just the most horrible and exhausting experience. They checked me the next morning and I was only dilated to 1cm. (I was not dilated at all before coming in). They couldn’t give me anything else since I was still having contractions on my own after they removed the cervidil so they just continued to monitor me. Later that night my contractions were still 2-3 minutes apart so the doctor checked to see if I dilated any more and I was still at 1cm, so he decided to just send me home. They want to try again with the induction in a few days. And if the induction doesn’t do anything again I think he’s just not going to keep trying to push it and just let me continue on with the pregnancy until at least 39 weeks I believe. He doesn’t believe it is medically necessary to escalate to a c section because my blood pressures have been fine the entire time I was at the hospital, as well as my urine and blood tests all coming back normal.
I kept feeling angry with myself for letting my regular doctor pretty much harass me into getting induction. As soon as I got home I slept for nearly 13 hours and I still feel exhausted, physically and mentally. I feel super depressed and weak after going through all that. I’m not sure if I’m still having contractions or not, when I was having them naturally before I went into the hospital I barely even noticed.

I am sorry that happened to you. It really seems like they don’t want anyone to go into labor naturally. If it was necessary, they shouldn’t have let you leave the hospital.. but it obviously wasn’t necessary. Do not let them give you a timeline that’s not how labor works.

I agree with Casey! When your baby and body is ready, you will dilate and labor will be so much easier. I was induced with my first and neither my body nor him were ready and it was a shit show. Try to get some rest and find peace in that your BP and labs were great. Let baby cook until they are ready❤️ and also don't be so hard on yourself girlie. You made a decision based off the information that you had at the time.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. This just reinforces how against inductions I am. They’re so common now. I’ve always been low very risk but they were talking about an induction at 39 weeks a long time ago because the baby is measuring big. A big baby is not a reason for an induction and if I have to get an epidural because the induction is so painful then I’ll be nervous about the baby getting stuck no matter the size or some other complication because it will be more difficult to move around and know when I need to push
