do i need to cover my baby’s hands at night ?

my baby is 3 and a half months old and sucks on his hands for comfort (before crying for me). at night i fold the mittens from his babygro over on his hands because my room gets quite cold 16-17 degrees but the mittens get wet from him sucking on them which i’m thinking makes him colder and he gets frustrated because he can’t properly put his hands in his mouth. would it be okay to leave them uncovered or would he get cold?
he wears long sleeved vest, babygro & 2.5 tog sleep sack

I have left mine unfolded for a while now, he’s similar age. But he now uses his hands to self soothe, so I would defo say leave them open so he can try & settle himself with his hands if he needs too x

Our room is exactly the same temp, our LO wears the same, and I've left his hands uncovered since he started sucking his thumb to self soothe a couple of months ago x

Also, sometimes his hands are really cold in the night but don't worry, if their neck and back is warm they're fine :)

My midwife told me babies should have cold hands but warm everywhere else. Since then I haven’t covered my baby’s hands up. They will cry if they’re too cold whereas they don’t tell you if they’re overheating. That’s clearly dangerous so I think you’re better off not putting mitts on them x
