What do I do

So my 3 month old is still in next to me and loves to press his face against the side of it which really concerns me cause I worry he will suffocate when he was new born he wasn’t bothered by being moved but now when I move him he won’t settle unless he’s pressing his nose into it or a put my finger in his nose gently

I’m guessing this is his comfort bless him. Atleast it has holes so he can breathe! Maybe a soft toy or something with holes in may help?

I can see you have the same next to me as me. My baby has been doing this since she was 2 months and she’s fine so try not to worry x

it sounds like a good idea but I’m Just so worried cause it’s his nose I know the next to me is one with breathable sides but still worries me sick cause he pushes right in I think he’s trying to get closer to me 🥰

Avatar

that makes me feel abit better hate moving him and he wakes up I wonder why they do it

My son does this every night! Try your best not to worry (easier said than done) because I don’t think there’s much you can do.

I have the same next to me and my little boy does the exact same thing most nights. I even tried smooshing my face against it to double check if it was breathable because it stressed me out 😂

Avatar

My baby girl does this too! Same crib as you. She’s done it for months now. I have an owlet smart sock and it never goes sets off oxygen alarm so I don’t worry now

Avatar

My girl does this in her next to me, my theory is that it's the smell, I've noticed all the babies I've seen that have done this do it on the side thats next to the bed so I'm guessing that side smells of mum so it's a comfort

Put a rolled up blanket below at his waist to keep him from rolling to close

Avatar

My girl did the same 😅 no worries mama! My girl also did this in utero too, she’s just snuggling 🥰

Is that the tutti bambini next to me? If so, we have the same and I spent many nights stressing over the same issue. 😟 we have an owlet sock that would alert us if sats dropped below a certain number and they’ve always been fine, even when I’ve thought there’s absolutely no way she can breathe with her face squished against the side. Don’t worry 😌

Avatar

Thank you everyone Yes it is the tutti Bambi seems every baby seems to like a face smooshing scaring us I’ve never heard of a baby doing it but doesn’t seem uncommon

This looks ok to me because there’s some space between the bed and the mesh. But definitely don’t put any extra towels or rolled up blankets in the bassinet. I would also remove the plush if you are concerned about suffocation. No jusgement just a suggestion 🩷

My daughter did this from the day she came home from the hospital. She did it in the pram too. As long as she could breathe fine, I’d wait until she was asleep then move her over but she’d still find her way back there x

Ewan the sheep is no longer in their as the batteries died every 2 days and go sick of changing I wouldn’t of had in their to begin but their was no where else to put him spend £30 on a white noise sheep Jsut to use a rain playlist on my iPad 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

My baby needs something on his nose too like if he’s napping I have to put a blanket there so he feels his own breath coming back ..and we co sleep I hold him and he’s on me, I would be scared to use something like that because you don’t feel it as much as just skin to skin. But they do get used to it, so it gets worse - they end up needing that until sleep trained. But guess what we’re all just surviving and it will pass all too soon anyway haha

My son dud this and then got attached to taggy, 4 crochet squares of wool sewn together that used to have ribbons round edges. He always pressed them under his nose or laid over face as he got bigger. Because of the holes and it being a soft and nof dense material I never did worry because I could feel his breath through/ round. He's now 6 nearly 7 and still does the same. They just love to face smush ans snuggle.

Avatar

my boy did this too, the mesh is breathable so he’ll be able to breath 🥰 even now my baby loves to sleep right in the corner of his cot and he’s almost 1 😅

Avatar

My little one does this every night too. Doesn’t matter how many times I move him back to the centre of his crib, he makes his way back over. X

Avatar

Omg my daughter does this in her upstairs bed and it scares the crap out of me. Same age as your son.

Avatar

My baby also does this he is 4 weeks it terrifies me!

Avatar

My daughter did the same, she still does it now but against the bottom of her cot. I was worried at first but she wasn't like it all night so I knew she could move herself away if needed. Her next to me ended up with a little patch of hair on the side where she slept in the same position 😂

Avatar

Should say, my daughter is now 16 months

Avatar

My son was like this. It’s got holes at the side so it should be fine as there’s still a gap x
