My little girl isn’t having much in the day anymore milk wise. She has her breakfast, doesn’t tend to have milk in the morning anymore, only water and a snack if she gets hungry.
Then she has lunch & yogurt at 12.
Then she usually has boob at 3ish to get her off to sleep.
Then it’s dinner & fruit at 5 and up to bed at 7 - she has a big feed and off to sleep.
Now, my little girl has slept badly since the 4 month regression and has aaalways woken every 2-4 hours. I offer her the boob each time she wakes, mainly because I don’t have it in my with the sleep deprivation to turn her away when I know boob can get her back off to sleep in 20 mins. That might be a problem for the future but I’m just conquering one this at a time and sleep in the main priority for my girl and me!
She doesn’t take a bottle and starts nursery in may, so my hope was to just get to a point of offering boob in the evening and over night by the time that starts. Then day time would be water (and cows milk once she hits 12 months I guess - but need to work out how much she actually needs of that if I’m still feeding in the evening and over night)
Her weight is good, but I’m not sure if I should be trying to feed her more in the day or not.. I’m just going with her signals but equally don’t want to be avoiding feeeds when I shouldn’t be.
Some ideas of what other EBF mums are doing would be lovely please ☺️🧡 sorry for the essay!

I’d say that’s fine if she feeds all night, my baby is the same but still feeds a few times in the day but it has definitely cut down a lot! It works well with nursery though so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about x

Your little girl sounds exactly like what I’ve been told mine “should” be feeding like, but we definitely feed more.
I always give a feed as soon as we wake up even if she’s been feeding all night. We have breakfast about an hour later
Will sometimes feed to sleep for morning nap if she’s with me
Lunch is about 11:30
She usually has 1-2 feeds in the afternoon (could include a feed to sleep for nap in addition too)
And then feed after dinner sometimes if she’s not eaten loads and always feed to sleep for bed.
She feeds anywhere between 1-3 times overnight (wakes very frequently though, we have a very poor sleeper too 🫣)
She did a taster session at nursery the other day where she had her evening meal (which they serve at 3pm!!) she had pie and beans and then I gave her a smaller portion at our normal dinner time of 5pm with us of some nut roast and sweet potato, and that night she didn’t need a feed all night after being put to bed (still woke up 2 hourly though 😂)

We’re the same here! A good feed in the eve before bed and a good few through the night. I offer during the day but she’s not really fussed by it and would much rather be eating food. I remember the same happening with my eldest at a similar age, which worked quite well for us with me going back to work it meant that she would just feed when I got home, which I’m planning on doing with my youngest aswell. Neither of them have ever really taken a bottle. I just keep telling myself I need to trust that baby will take what she needs in terms of milk as and when she does feed. 🥰

Pretty much same here.
11:30am feed to sleep for first nap
3:30pm feed to sleep for second nap
7pm feed to sleep for bed
Then normally anywhere from 3 upwards of wake ups in the night that I just boob her to put her back to sleep, but they're not proper feeds I wouldn't say.
She's stuck to her percentile since birth so I assume she knows what she's doing.

We feed 4/5 times during the day, with 3 meals a day. Although some days he eats hardly any solids. I feed him/rock to sleep any time between 630/8 p.m., and he wakes up at 3 am and 5 am for feeding. Some days, however, he's up every hour, but I think it's more for comfort than feeding x

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate you coming back to me 🧡
My little girl is the same as most of your little ones by the sounds of it - her “big” feeds are for 3pm nap time and 7pm bed time. I always offer her boob when she wakes in the night but by the time she wakes, I feed her and then put her down, it’s all in all about 20/30 mins usually.
I have tried giving her a bit more milk in the morning but she doesn’t want it. Breakfast is her least favourite actually because she must be full from all that night feeding 🥲

thank you! Can I ask if you don’t mind - do you have any thoughts on what you might do in the future about moving away from boob feeding to sleep?
I boob feed to sleep day and night and it feels like a super power in the night to just quickly pop her back to sleep instead of my partner trying for SO LONG and failing to rock her to sleep. Just curious if you feel pressure to wean her off night feeds / feeding to sleep because I get that pressure but I just feel like it’s working for us and she doesn’t take a bottle x

thanks Holly! Does your little girl still want her breakfast after a feed as soon as she wakes for the day?
I’ve found when my little girl is properly awake for the day, I have to just get up and get downstairs to get breakfast rather than feeding because otherwise she doesn’t want to touch it, even an hour or two later. Breakfast is usually her least fav. But tbh even as a little baby she didn’t feed much between waking up to falling asleep that first time x

I have the same worry too, my LO is on 3 meals and loves her food! Used to take a bottle but now refuses after starting solids. She feeds maybe 5 times during the day but the feeds are super short at a minute or two unless she’s asleep (we contact nap as she sleeps better when she can latch on and off). Still every hour or two during the night but again only a few sucks so I think a lot is for comfort. We cosleep and feed lying down to maximise rest. I keep telling myself that she’s following her centile and has 2 dirty nappies a day so she must know what she’s doing. Absolutely in no rush or taking on any pressure to stop feeding to sleep, it takes 5 mins of bf vs crying and 30 mins rocking otherwise! Do what gets you the most rest and works for you and your family, it’s honestly no one else’s business ❤️ xx

We mostly feed before the two naps during the day, and normally she’ll wake up in those naps so feed her again back to sleep and I’ll offer again when she wakes up but sometimes doesn’t take. Also feed her first thing in morning when she wakes and at bedtime to sleep, then 4+ during the night! Also rarely eats breakfast - a few bites and she’s done, I think it’s cos she’s so full from milk during the night! I did try not feeding her on waking up in the morning but she didn’t really eat brekkie so I’d rather she has milk than nothing.

I definitely get the pressure! It's just so much easier than anything else, I don't know what my plan is for the future. I'm kind of hoping she just learns to self soothe to sleep before age 2 and it gradually just becomes unnecessary to breastfeed her :S but that might be wishful thinking.
I do worry about it, but I try and just tell myself that I'll know when the time is right to change things and at the moment this works before for me and her so why would I change it.

sorry just seen this!
Yes she’s a really good eater with her meals - however there’s usually an hour gap between feed and food by the time we’ve finished and made breakfast. I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with going straight to breakfast at this age though, they are supposed to be moving to food being their main source of nutrition and it all depends on your routine as a family!
