We think we’ve worked out that my daughter is allergic to strawberries. She’s had little bumps and red rashes come up after eating anything with strawberry in 🤦♀️
Does anyone know what I do now? She’s absolutely fine and it goes down super quickly but do I take her to the doctors? Will they do an allergy test?

The docs won’t do allergy tests hun. Theyl just tell you to not give her strawberries for a while then slowly introduce them when she gets a little older. And to always have antihistamines available. Xx

okay that makes me feel a bit better that it’s not too serious. I spoke to the doctor about it last week but we weren’t sure what the allergy was to.. they said not to give her any antihistamine without it being on prescription? Seems odd because it’s 1+ 🤷♀️xx

Strawberries & kiwis are actually a very high allergen food and it’s ‘recommended’ not to give to children under the age of 2 apparently. I never knew this until I went down a rabbit hole researching it lol.
This is not me saying not to give to a child under 2. As I gave my daughter strawberries when she was weaning at 4 months x

oh wow I never knew this!! She’s only had actual strawberries a couple of times but she seems to be reacting to strawberry yoghurt and oat bars with strawberries in too 🤦♀️ xx

honesty I didn’t have any idea either! Until I looked into it!
I worked in a private nursery before I had my first child and always found it weird that the baby & toddler rooms never had strawberries for snack time but the preschool room did. I always just thought they didn’t have enough to go around😂🤦🏼♀️ but now it explains it!
It’s because it’s not on the 14 listed common allergens ect. X

So my son's under a dietician for a milk allergy and wheat/gluten allergy and we were advised to go gluten free for 6 months before slowly reintroducing as per the dietician ladder for it so I'd say go strawberry free for 6 months and then slowly reintroduce it starting with things like puff snacks with strawberry then yogurt etc and work up over a few weeks until you can try a real strawberry and if there's still a reaction id say it's likely she will just need to avoid it but if there's not then she's grown out of it c
