Does anyone have any tips for brushing our little ones teeth?
It’s something I absolutely dread doing. We’ve tried changing the toothbrush, the toothpaste, singing songs, letting her watch herself in the mirror, watching me brush my teeth, brushing our teeth together, letting her try to brush her teeth, lying her down, doing it in the bath, sitting on my lap. She closes her mouth and shakes her head so I can’t even sneak the brush in.
She only has 7 teeth but it ends up turning into such a stressful activity. I really don’t want her to negatively associate with the task of brushing her teeth but it’s always such a battle to brush those 7 tiny teeth

Following for tips. My LO hates it too.

At first we traded a little. He would "brush " his teeth, I would brush his teeth, he would brush my teeth. So he got familiar with the toothbrush and the taste of toothpaste on his own terms I guess. He now lets me brush his teeth pretty well

I put his toothpaste on my finger, rub it on his teeth and then brush, it's still hard, but at least I know he isn't eating the toothpaste before I get the brush in 😅

My little boy hates me doing his. I’ve found if I do mine at the same time and really exaggerate the movements I’m doing he finds it funny and will copy what I do to try and make me laugh aswell. I tend to listen for the sound to make sure if he’s on the teeth. Seems to be working for the moment xx

My daughter will only let me brush hers if she is brushing mine! It's silly but it works 😂

I’m totally in the same boat, we’ve tried everything but she’s a very stubborn little girl. After a bit of advice from my dentist I’ve started rubbing a bit of toothpaste on her teeth with my finger to get some flourish on them daily and I just keep trying to encourage her to brush her teeth with the toothbrush herself afterwards to build to habit. I’ve stopped trying to force it because I feel like it going to make it harder in the long run if teeth brushing is a screaming battle every time

There are brushing teeth songs. My wee one loves songs and singing and I was struggling even with him having a tooth brush. Now I sing the song and we take turns brushing his teeth and its turned it into something fun ghe minute he hears the song now he comes running

My son loves brushing his teeth. I brush them quickly and then give him the toothbrush to chew on for a bit. I think he really likes the flavour of the toothpaste. We also used it for our daughter but Colgate have now changed it. Hopefully this tube will last us ages though.
