Today out for Sunday lunch my MIL was holding my little girl, scooped the froth out of her partners lager and put it straight in my 10 month olds mouth. I was sat there astounded, didn’t say anything as I just didn’t know what to say. My partner wasn’t at the table at the time to call her out on it but don’t know whether he would have anyway.
I am fuming and can’t stop thinking about it.
She apologised straight away to her partner for putting her finger in his drink but didn’t even look at me 😳 I know it’s only a bit of froth but I just am fuming . Am I over reacting? Maybe I should have said something but I hate confrontation. For my little girl though I feel like I should have said something.
Told my partner afterwards and he was surprised she did it but just said ‘it is what it is’ . Their relationship is strained and we see her very little. She’s probably seen my little girl 5/6 times in 10 months.
Anyone been in a similar situation? Don’t really know what I’m wanting out of this but just some words of advice.
Thank you 🩷

I haven’t really got any advice as I hate confrontation too but I really would be so unhappy about this too! I don’t think you’re overreacting at all! Even if it was something like chocolate I wouldn’t be happy let alone alcohol!

I feel for you so much. Simile situ with my MIL. I’m at the point I would’ve gone loopy at her and made such a scene. But that’s because there are lots of things bottling up to this. Tbh I might have expected my partner to say something but i guess if you don’t see her regularly thing it’s unlikely to become a regular problem and saying something won’t change it from happening. You’re so right tho xx

Meh. We gave our baba a lick of daddy’s lagger and we giggled about it.
But that’s just us 🤷🏻♀️

I remember I used to suck the froth off my dad's pint, when I was younger. It was fun and it wouldn't have been enough alcohol percentage to do anything to me. It was a fun thing but I also thought it was more niche. Didn't realise others has done this. Think it might just be a older tradition or something. But with a baby is abit more wowe x
