Baby Number 2
My little girl is currently eight months old, and my partner and I are discussing potentially trying for baby number two!
Only real issue that we are nervous about is the fact that I had a C-section and they recommend leaving 18 months between C-section and conceiving again! Has anyone had any issues with having two C-sections closer together than the 18 months? I’d really like my babies to be close together in age, but I think not sticking to the guidelines is making me slightly nervous is all I guess, hope that makes sense!!

Unless your situation is different then I think the gap for a standard c-section advised is usually for when you’d be giving birth again not from first pregnant. I had to have an emergency c-section and was told 12 months by the surgeon at hospital and 18 months by the GP. Again I took both to mean until giving birth again. Whilst it’s important to consider risk factors and keep baby/you safe, I also know women who have gotten pregnant before 12 months (unplanned/planned) even after c-section and as long as the doctors are aware they can manage it. A friend of mine had to do IVF for both her babies and her doctor was happy to do the next transfer 11 months after her c-section/first baby and it was fortunately successful so her gap between births was 17ish months. If it was too big of a risk I don’t think the doctor would’ve been ok with trying a transfer. I’m looking to try after my little one is 12 months so could be anywhere from 22+ month gap between births which I think is ok/safe.
I was told by NHS obstetrician to wait 18 months. I ended up having my c section privately with a fantastic obstetrician in London and he’s advised me to wait 12 months before getting pregnant so that’s what I’m going to do. He did say if you got pregnant before that you should be fine it just gives the body a bit longer to fully heal etc. hope that helps

I've got 13m between my two and they were both c-sections. We were advised to wait 18m when we had our 1st however nothing was mentioned when we'd fallen pregnant again, no concerns or worries. No one battered an eyelid x
