I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get my 1 year old to accept her shoes she has been walking around for a while now so we brought her a pair of shoes however when we put them on her she has a massive tantrum and will sit there and cry till we take them off she can stand up in them when I help her but doesn’t move. Yet she wants to be walking all the time but I wont let her walk outside without shoes I have tried everything like distracting her with something and like sneaking them on her feet but nothing works.

It might be the shoe, we had a pair of Nikes given to us and my son couldn’t stand in them let alone walk, realised they were way too narrow even though they was the right size and too chunky & heavy. when we tried vans/clarks on him they were much wider and the soles were bendier so he could actually bend his feet to walk if that makes sense!

I have those Clark’s shoes now and she won’t tolerate them I honestly have no idea what to do

Ahh that’s so annoying sorry idk what could help😩

I’d try making it “fun” - go over to the shoe rack and let her explore all the shoes. In and off the rack, put her shoe on your head, tie the laces, drag them around by the lace… whatever. Show her how mommy wears shoes. Dance in them- just positive energy ya know?
I would try another pair though. Give her a new fresh start in her relationship to shoes. Worth a shot!

On* and off

Also my girl was more willing to wear shoes if I put them on her outside at first

Maybe buy a second pair so she can choose by herself which she wears that day? X

I have Inch Blue shoes for her. They also do slippers as well which she used prior to walking. They don’t fall off easily and it’s a British (Welsh) company.

It’s such a new strange sensation, it will take a little time for them to get used to. My eldest was the same and when he did walk initially in them he was like those videos of dogs in shoes trying to shake them off with each step 🤣 I think it was only 2 weeks before he got over it.
But Clark’s do pre walker shows which are softer soled. Could try those.

My daughter had a melt down the first time I put them on, but I took her straight to the playground in the park and put her on the swings and slide and let her walk around so she understood she needed shoes to be walking around outside. Positive association seemed to work, or just a fluke
