Hey ladies.
So I have a question about flat spots, my daughter has a very slight flat spot her doctor back home in Georgia looked at it and wasn’t all that concerned.. said it was common for a baby to develop one when sleeping on there back. Well we just recently moved to Kentucky, and she had her first appointment with the new doctor. He wants to see her back in a month to see if there are any changes, she’s four months old. Has anyone else’s baby had slight a flat spot that was never treated and it was okay? I’m only asking because her head is almost perfect! So I’m a little nervous about the helmet

My guy is a back sleeper and has a flat spot on his head. Doctor said it will go away in time 🤷🏽♀️

that’s what her doctor back home said… I mean it’s so small! but she has a bald spot, and I think that makes them feel like it’s way worse than what it really is.

mine said do more tummy time. they didn’t seem very concerned about it and will check it at our 6 month appointment. i’m also a little nervous but it’s not super flat so i think it’ll be okay. i’m keeping him off his back as much as i can to help it go away.

that’s what I’ve been trying to do, but can’t help it when she sleeps I’ve even tried repositioning her head a bit… and she just moves it back to where she wants it when sleeping.

i think it’s inevitable with sleeping bc it’s “safest” on their back. if you’re comfortable, try letting her nap on her belly once in a while. i let my son do it but i make sure to watch him closer since he doesn’t fully roll yet. focus more on when she’s awake by keeping her upright, on her side or on her tummy.

I’ll try that! our daughter rolls from back to belly and belly to back. but it still worries me lol, my son co slept with us but he always slept in my arms. she sleeps in a co sleeper with us and refuses to cuddle like he did.

My daughter had one when she was 3.5 months old, it was on the right side of her head because she always slept with her head to the right. Pediatrician wasn’t concerned. It went away within a month. She’s almost 5.5 months now and her head is practically perfect lol
I say trust your momma instinct!

Mine has had a flat head since about 2 months old and he’s just been going to the chiropractor. It’s slowly getting better!

My son has flat head and is using a doc band for it

how does the chiropractor help the flat spot?

what is that?

My son is now 5.5 months and I’ve just gotten him an activity center (the skip hop one) I’m hoping that will help with the flat spot too. It looks very similar to your lo’s!!! He usually doesn’t love tummy time but he stayed in the activity center while I cooked and ate lunch which is literally the longest time he’s let me do my thing lol - and most importantly he’s off his back.

they get tension in their neck that keeps them from turning their head at night when they sleep!

that’s what I was worried about with my daughter was her not moving, but she tosses and turns her head so much in her sleep. she literally has this big bald patch from turning left and right I think that’s why they think her flat spot is bad.. she has one patch of hair that’s got some body to it and it looks like her flat spot is worse because of that.

our daughter hated the tummy time mat I got her, she would rather use a blanket and her toys. but she also has a big brother she watches daily, and thinks she’s got to be going and doing like he is already.

usually they don’t worry about it until they are 6 months! So maybe just do what you can to keep her off of it other than when she sleeps at night of course until her next appt!

oh I just got my daughter in her jumperroo she loves it!!

the activity table has been soooo helpful for us too! i love it & so excited to see him grow into it

If it's a small spot the helmet won't last that long anyway. I know it's nerve-wracking to think about putting a helmet on a baby and kind of making them stand out but in the long run it is best for them. In the meantime all tummy time all the time 😀

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s pretty common because babies spend a lot of time on their back. Once they start sitting up and crawling it should start to go away since they won’t be spending as much time on their back!
It’s usually only very severe cases where the pediatrician will be concerned and probably recommend a helmet. I’d give it a few more months to see if it corrects itself as baby gets older & more active!

her doctor is give us a month, then we have to go back for a check up. so hopefully it’ll be fine.
