Childcare while studying in the US?

Hi everyone,
I'm from Europe and wanted to do an academic semester abroad (exchange), in the US.
However, I'm very confused with the childcare costs???
Here I pay about 250€/month for 12h/day Monday to Friday (full time childcare).
From what I read online, I would have to pay more than $1500 and sometimes more than $2000 even for full-time childcare in the US?? Is that really so? Am I missing on something?
How could I possibly study full-time and afford the accommodation + childcare on top?
How do you all do it? 😊
I'm a single mom. I'm not a US citizen and my LO also not.
Thank you all for your tips! :)

Lots of people hire a babysitter. You can easily find some teenagers looking to earn money. They’re cheap too! Like $20 for a few hours.

ohhhh thank you!! They would babysit at your place then? What if you live in a student dorm? 😅
Or do they go to parks, etc?

depends on the teenager. Most come to your place. If some have driver licenses and cars, they might be willing to take your kiddo to parks or places.

Yon get what you pay for. A teenager being paid $20 to watch your kid isn’t going to do the best job.

thank you for your feedback! What would you recommend for someone studying full time? 😊
Any tips?

some community colleges offer daycare programs. I’m not sure he cost- it likely varies. I’m not sure if universities offer this too- but community college is basically 2 year college programs.

It depends on where you live in the states, a lot of difference if you live in rural vs urban areas
