Sure start maturnity grant

Hello, just completed my grant application. Does anyone know where to send it off to or how to find out where to? As it says an address on the form which I’m guessing is where I send it off, but do I use a stamp how do I know when it’s received? Thank you.

can this not be done online?

Freepost DWP SSMG This is what you write on the envelope and put into post box you don’t need a stamp and I think it takes 28 days to receive a letter to say weather it was successful or not x

@Megan I was also wondering this xx

@Mandey yeh i know of many people that are entitled to the grant and have applied online for it at 28 weeks and got it sometimes 1-2 weeks after x

@India I struggled with a free post address at my local post office they said it doesn’t come up on their system? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm not sure if you are referring to maternity allowance, but if so this was my experience: - for the application form, the one where you add all your support documents I paid for postage because it included original documents that I didn't want lost in the mail, plus the website doesn't specify they pay for postage. Particularly because different applications require different amount of support documents and that changes the weight and the cost. - once DWP received my documents I immediately received a text message confirming they received application and decision would happen within 4 weeks. - a week or so after I received in the post my original documents that needed returned with a letter saying I didn't need to do anything further but wait for a decision.

- about 3 weeks after the text message I got in the mail the decision on my application. If positive, like mine, it includes a letter and a new form. The letter explains when you need to send the form so they can start paying the allowance and it also includes an envelope which includes paid for postage, so you only need to fill the form and post it without worrying about stamps or anything.

Ps, the application needs to be sent to the address on the form: DWP Maternity Allowance Mail Handling Site A Wolverhampton WV98 2GL

@Megan but don’t your midwife or healthcare professional got to write in it to confirm this? As in the form my midwife had to confirm this

@Adriana I’m talking about sure start maturnity grant, it’s a grant of £500 for your first child if you are eligible for it

Are you in Scotland? Because you can apply online. And if you want to apply by post you need to call them to send you a prepaid envelope.

@Adriana if your talking about the maturnity grant, no I’m not from Scotland they said send off with an address listed or go to job centre but my nearest one is quite a way out so yeah just wanting to send it off and know how to that’s all. Applying online I don’t get how I would as you must have your midwife or doctor sign it to prove your pregnant

@Daisy in all honesty not sure, but if you are in Scotland (like me) the gov website does have an option to apply online for the best start grant in Scotland, which I gather is the maternity grant equivalent up here I think. Maybe we just need to submit a scanned copy of our maternity certificate that has been given to us signed by the midwife? Not sure. 😅 But yeah, if not in Scotland I'm afraid my info is useless for you as it clearly works different here. But good luck with your application! Hopefully you'll get it all sorted without much complications!

@Daisy there’s a separate form for the maternity grant hun. I downloaded it from the gov and going to post. I think you post it by 11 weeks before baby is due or up to 6 months afterwards (I think). Xxx
