‘Big’ baby

Just had a growth scan at 28 weeks, baby is estimated 3lbs 8oz 😵‍💫 she made this sound like it was a bad thing and the baby is huge. She said her tummy is big too. Now I’m panicking like hell!!!! Our first was born 8lbs 4oz. Anyone else got a ‘larger’ baby? 🫣

Was measured today at 29 weeks and told pretty much the same as you. Can't get measured again for another 6 weeks so I'm panicking 😕

Ugh I had this with my midwife after my 24weeks scan, she said she wouldn't be surprised if I had gestational diabetes and then it turns out I don't...so I asked her what now and she said to watch what I eat and to have a smaller easter egg this year!!! 🙄 I'm 26wks now and have another scan at 34weeks so thinking I'll ask to be induced early if he's still showing "big"

Hey, hope you don’t mind me asking but is your growth scan with the NHS? I was told no more scans at the hospital after my 20 week scan

Avatar

hey lovely! No of course I don’t mind. All NHS yes, I’m consultant led due to previous issues with BP and my my current BMI. Usually calls for extra scans! I think if you’re not deemed ‘high risk’ then you won’t get the extra scans xx

Thanks for explaining 🙂

ah never!!!! It’s so nerve wracking isn’t it. I had my gestations diabetes results and they were negative. The consultant told me also at that your second baby is usually bigger! So maybe that’s why?!

Jesus 🫣 not a very nice person your midwife sounds!!! I had my GTT results and they were negative too. I’ve had so many friends mind who’s baby measured big and they ended up being pretty small, 6-7lbs!

please don’t feel forced into having an induction based on them thinking you’re big! There’s lots of research on this. It’s impossible to know how big a baby is going to be until they’re born. Xx

Mine is measuring 2 lbs 12oz at 27 weeks…. They’ve got me in for a growth scan in a month’s time. If he goes above the measuring line he’s on now, I need that glucose test for diabetes 🤦🏻‍♀️

it depends if you’re consultant led or not. I am because I have a high risk pregnancy

I had the same message today and wondered if I am eating too much for him to be growing so big. But I will wait and see
