My 3 month - nearly 4 month old little girl, won’t hold or reach for toys. Does anyone else have the same with their little one? I had a leaflet of what she should be doing from the health visitor and that’s one of the things on there

My little girl is 3 months old and I’ve been told that she should be holding toys but she doesn’t yet 🫠. They say babies develop at their own pace but it’s really hard to not panic! I try to get her to hold things but she just drops instantly. It’s so hard to not compare but just trying to remember that every baby develops at their own pace 😫

My little one has started to reach and gold toys, but she hates tummy time and doesn't hold her head for long! So I think babies just do all these things in their own time. I would say if you're concerned to ring the healthcare visitor and I think they can make an appointment to assess for early intervention!

Hi Tasha, I read each baby reaches their milestone at various stages. Mine now almost 4 months is putting everything in her mouth as she would start teething but that is too early. She hates tummy time but playing with toys is her favourite.
Does she giggle and make sounds?
They also start discovering their voice.

You have to go from their due date not their birth date, my LG is 14 weeks but actually 11 weeks from due date and until literally 2 days ago she was just looking at her toys and now she is batting things and holding them if I place them in her hand. It’s so easy to panic but they just seem to pick it up overnight once you’ve panicked for a while! They’re all so different my little girl smiled quite late and now doesn’t stop, she also doesn’t quite giggle yet just shrieks and makes a laughing face! Xx

it is so hard not to worry🥲 she will hold things in her hand like bib etc but I think it’s just fluke that she’s grabbed it!

my little one has always been happy with tummy time to be honest! Just not keen on holding things, I get they do all just develop at their own pace

she has always got her hands in her mouth, has done now for weeks! She makes some sounds but I’m yet to get a proper giggle although is so happy and smiles constantly just no sound yet lol!

oh I didn’t know that! My daughter was only 6 days early. Aw I bet that’s so cute! Mine is very smiley but no sound comes out yet 😂 but she does make sounds xx

yeah so you’ve got at least a week more for her milestones if that makes sense! They will also develop social and motor skills at different times, so some babies will carry out motor skills earlier whereas some babies will grow socially more quickly. I really panicked about her smiling and spoke to my GP about it at her 8 week check and she basically told me to chill out x

My baby is 15 weeks and only in the last week has started to open his fists and hold things. He doesn’t reach for stuff but if I put it right on him whilst he’s sitting in his bouncer he will hold it. I’ve started giving him the same toy every day though to encourage him to hold it as it’s familiar etc… I’m not sure if that makes a difference but he has started to hold onto the soft rattle now

Mines 4 months next week and only just kinda holding things if I force them into his hand but he’s not great at it, definitely doesn’t reach for anything yet. Don’t worry too much 🥰

I was also recommend to buy something called an o ball from Amazon, it weighs literally nothing has lots of places for them to grab and has really helped my daughter work on her grip. I’ll post a pic!

that’s a good idea, I’ll give that a go with the same toy every day!

thank you!

My little boy is 14 weeks 11 weeks corrected and doesn’t hold or grab yet his fists are closed and he’s so busy eating them. lol month 3 takes you up to 16 weeks when month 4 starts and even then babies develop at there own pace xx

It’s a tough one isn’t it? My little boy is 4 months old today and he has only just started to hold something and bring it to his mouth this last week. He doesn’t reach out for any toys yet but he tracks everything I shake or move in front of him so he knows it’s there :)

I wouldn’t worry yet I am a HV and my baby is only just 4 months old next week and she has started doing it yesterday. It will just happen all of a sudden in next few weeks just keep placing things that seem interesting in front of them
