I have a preemie at home who's 1 month old but I'm feeling a sore throat come on this morning. What do I do? Should I not be around the baby or just stay distanced as much as possible?

i imagine it will be difficult to distance yourself given how young baby is. i would personally make sure to keep on top of hygiene, keep sanitiser handy, maybe wear a mask when holding or feeding?

May I ask if you’re breastfeeding? I had a sore throat and felt poorly just after Christmas with my 4 month old, and she never came down with it despite being glued to me and constantly trying to stick her hands in my mouth. I believe it was because she was receiving antibodies in my breast milk before I even started showing signs of being sick. A friend of mine also had Covid when her infant was very young, and the baby thankfully didn’t come down with it either. I’m hoping the same in your case ❤️

I would definitely try to keep hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes handy. I made the mistake of getting my baby sick recently and it sucks trying to care for her while I’m sick as well

Thanks Mamas for the comments!! I'm pumping + bottling with 2 sessions of breastfeeding for 10 mins a day to make sure the little nugget preserves as much energy as possible.

I just started getting a cold on Saturday and my 11 week old caught it by Sunday evening. Thankfully, he’s getting better quicker than I am because of the antibodies passed through my milk currently. It’s a hit or miss if they’ll catch it when they need to be close to you at this age still. Lots of washing hands/hand sanitizer! Be prepared with a snot sucker and saline spray if they do get sick! Those are must haves!

Your milk is the BEST thing for your baby. Any antibodies you're creating go right to your milk to help protect your baby. It may be too late to stop them from getting sick but you often see BF babies get over things quickly as they're getting what you made specifically for them. Just keep general good hygiene and hopefully only you will feel poorly ♥️

Vitamin C, D, and fish oil

Ginger shot🥃 zink. Vit c (1000) and love 💗

Wear a mask if you can. And maybe buy a testing kit for rsv?

I got Covid when my son was 8 months old and I was masking sometimes when I was around him and his symptoms were super mild from what I had, I made sure I was breastfeeding him as much as possible and keeping good hygiene all together and drinking a ton of fluids!

Get Collodial Silver throat spray…. Works wonders on a sore throat. And like others have said , keep breastfeeding- baby is getting antibodies…. Zinc, vitamin D and C!

Thank you so much Mamas!! Really appreciate all the advice! Thankfully the sore throat cleared out in 24 hours.. appreciate you all! 💕

If you’re breastfeeding, keep it up. Those antibodies will do wonders for protecting your baby. Maybe give baby vitamins if you’re okay with that. Take baby outside as much as possible/ open windows for fresh air in your home.
