Toddlers with Asthma

Hey mamas, my 16 month old has been on maintenance puffers (orange - flovent) since last year October. It'll be 5 months now. We had to take him to the ER thrice last year because of chest congestion, which resulted in an asthma plan of two puffs twice daily. Im curious how other moms with kids who have asthma manage and what are your plans like? I wanted to revisit the plan with our doctor, but I find that what our pediatrician says differs from what our asthma educator says. Slightly confused how to go about it.
Also, what do you when your LOs have an on and off cough for weeks, do you just use the blue puffer? Thanks.

Yes what @Marisa said. The blue one used to help open the air way when having train breathing, after a strenuous activity, etc. The orange is more of a steroid to help if you are fighting a cold, chest infection, or if prescribe to help lungs with asthma (some take it daily, some take it seasonally), etc

For the OP because your 2 doctors are saying different things, I would follow the advice of the respirologist. Since they are more of the expert.

I was wondering what your dose was of the Flovent. We also were in the ED three times in six months requiring oxygen and they prescribed maintenance puffers but when we filled them the pharmacist said the dosing was high for a 2 year old. 125mcg twice daily.

Hey, so we were on 50 mcg flovent two puffs twice daily, but he still kept falling sick so his doctor said once my LO turns 2 to start on 125mg twice daily. So we'll be starting it in a few days.
