Toxic work?

I would speak directly to HR about this, it’s completely illegal to discriminate against a pregnant person and also to use any pregnancy related sickness against them too!

Is that written somewhere in policy? It sounds completely dodgy if you ask me 👀 employers shouldn’t ever be allowed to stop you from speaking to HR

I never heard of a company that doesn’t allow you to go to HR. Sounds like a manager made that up

I'm in the UK. Although it doesn't state anywhere in the contract about HR at all, every time any employee has asked for HR's contact details (I've been here 3 years!) We've been told they aren't allowed to give it out, and we have to send what we need through our administrator

Hey! I work in HR but have previously worked for companies where we weren’t allowed to contact HR directly!

Just remember that if you are pregnant then you are completely protected against any absence related horribleness! If you feel like you are being treated unfairly then you can raise a grievance and HR will need to be involved, this doesn’t need to escalate into a formal process but they will give you an audience at least and you can discuss how you are feeling!

I am in the UK too, this is so weird! If I were you I would say it’s a sensitive manner you don’t wish to disclose to administration and you were advised to speak to HR directly.
