So we live with family. And 2-3 times a week the other kids in the family come over to stay for 6-12 hours. They terrorize my dog. They don’t listen when we say not to do something or leave him alone. They see him as a toy since he’s only 15 pounds. For reference they are almost 4 and 6. I was washing bottles while he was outside doing his business and exploring and when I walked by the back door, my dog was being cornered.
Am I insane for thinking at ages (almost) 4 and 6 they’re too young to understand?? They’ve even around my dog for 2 years when I got him so I could understand when they were younger. But. Damn. I thought it would get better as they got older. But it hasn’t, it’s almost gotten worse.
How do I put a stop to this? Do I just have to leave for as much of the day as possible with my dog and baby?? Lock my poor dog upstairs to keep him safe? Everyone says “oh if he bites, they’ll learn” but OMG I don’t want my dog biting anyone. I don’t want him to have a bite history for shit that I think is preventable.

Unfortunately if the kids won't listen the safest thing to do is kennel your dog while they're around. When the kids ask where the dog is tell them you put him away because they can't behave themselves.

I agree with if your dog ends up nipping them to protect itself your dog will be the one to suffer the consequences. I would put the dog away

As much as it sucks, it may be best to put your dog away when those two kids are over. You don't want him or anyone else to get hurt. Or you could also take him out away from the house with your baby if that's preferable to him being locked up.
