Whooping Cough Vaccine

I had it with my first and will get it again when I remember to book it! It’s to protect baby, whooping cough is really dangerous for babies x

I've had it both pregnancies, and just like Lauren says, I remember it's all for my baby and doing everything I can to keep them healthy.

My midwife strongly advised me to have it so I did. No side effects other than a bit of a sore arm and, as others are saying, it gave me peace of mind to think I was protecting both baby and myself.

I’ve decided against it after reading the ingredient list on the vaccine insert.

I caught whopping cough 2 years ago and it was horrible, had a terrible cough for 4 months, couldn't sleep, lost my voice... I wouldn't wish it on anyone, you or your baby...so yeah i m all for the vaccine !

I’ve had it- it’s more to protect the baby than it is you (I’ve also had flu and Covid jabs) - all jabs have been fine either way no side effects except a sore arm and I haven’t been ill once during this pregnancy yet!

I’ve had the vaccine. I’m from a very anti vax family and haven’t had a vaccine in over 12 years but went after research. It’s the same vaccine baby will receive themselves anyway so my theory was I’d rather them have a slight tolerance to it so that it impacts them less when they have theirs. Plus I’ve heard how horrible and potentially fatal whooping cough is for babies and apparently rates are on the rise. I didn’t have it until 23 weeks as I wanted to make sure baby was a bit bigger to have a better resilience.

I had a sore arm and was quite tired the following days but that’s all. Baby has kicked stronger since so I know baby is okay 🫶🏼🫶🏼

As others have said the vaccine is to protect baby when they are born from what I understand. I’d discuss with your midwife as they can explain to you and answer any questions to help you decide why when to have it (obv none of us medically trained). Personally I accept all the vaccines offered as they have been used for years, have no known side effects and will help keep my baby safe x
