Oi!

So my mother on law often says “oi” to our son and daughter who are 17 months old and I don’t like it. They have names and I don’t think it’s a word (or just a sound as my husband says) that I want them using when they want you to listen. What do you think? Am I just being petty or is it rude to say this if you’re trying to get their attention?

My MIL is the same. I let it go, she’s amazing with my LO and only does it occasionally.

I would say something. Not only is it rude but I worked hard on making sure my son knew is name long before I tried calling him nicknames to get his attention. It’s just a safety thing that he knows what to respond to.
