Reflux with breast milk only

My LO was exclusively breastfed for the first couple of months and always had awful reflux and was constantly hungry. He’s now on formula and breast milk and I’ve noticed he doesn’t have any reflux with formula.
More often than not he will sick up the majority of his breast milk and sometimes does this quite violently. I haven’t changed my diet since having him but am concerned about food intolerances. I have spoke to my doctors this morning and the only thing they said is just to put him on formula but I really don’t want to stop breastfeeding.

Has anyone has similar and can offer any advice? I can’t express unfortunately so I can’t add any thickening agents or anything to the breast milk. I just feel like my doctors are being really unhelpful and don’t understand that I want to continue breastfeeding. TIA!

If your baby hasn't got skin rash I wouldn't think it's allergy. It could be that the formula milk is denser so more difficult to spit up...
You could ask the GP to prescribe you some gaviscon infant and you could give it to your little one only when you're going to breastfeed him....my baby is on it and it works really well!

Perhaps positioning plays a part here as well ...
What position do you typically breastfeed your baby? And is your baby in a more upright position when bottle fed?
