So my little one seems quite content exploring his toys and playing without a lot of intervention from me but I kind of feel guilty doing that. Is independent play beneficial at 8 months or should I be constantly playing with him until he is a bit older? Obviously I do play with him as well as let him do his own thing I just don’t know if I should be doing more if you get me?

I think it's beneficial for independent play have done with both of my girls.

ooh thank you! I just get a bit worried sometimes because up until now I’ve played with him all day but sometimes he just seems to ignore me and play alone anyway so I’ve taken a bit of a step back and just supervised

Independent play is amazing! And will set them up so well for playing as they get bigger x

Thank you girls for your replies xx

My son never played independently and he is still quite an affectionate person at 12. My daughter was very independent as a baby and child and still is at 9, hardly wants cuddles etc
