Early induction?

I have gestational diabetes and my cousin did as well. This week she told me to check with my OB about whether they’re planning to induce early because they kind of surprised her with it at 37 weeks and were like, “of course we are inducing, you have GD.” Two weeks ago, baby measures 48th percentile but the estimated delivery date was listed as 4/1/24 rather than 4/11/24 and her actual measurements were 7-10 days beyond 32 weeks. But no one said anything to me about it other than she’s measuring normal / that it’s great news. Just curious if early induction is the norm and if I should be prepared for that!

I’m in the UK so things may vary, but I’ve been told I’m going to be induced at 37-38 weeks. My baby is measuring 94th percentile though. You’re within your rights to refuse if you would rather it happen naturally, especially if baby’s measuring normal for gestational age

i was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks and 2 days. i think it depends on your baby’s growth and how well you manage your sugar levels. i was on insulin and my numbers were really good w it so my doctor didn’t feel it necessary fo induce me too early. my due day was 2/26 and my scheduled induction was 2/21. HOWEVER, my NST showed baby’s heart rate was kinda all over the place so i ended up being induced 2/14 and she was born via c section 2/15. obviously some things are out of our control, but i think you could push to wait a bit longer if you wanted and your baby is growing fine.

37 weeks seems too early if it isn’t completely necessary. my doctor didn’t want to induce me before 38 weeks but also didn’t want me to go passes 40 weeks (worried the baby would get too big)

My growth scans were on the 50th centile, I was booked to be induced at 41 weeks as growth was fine, he came naturally at 38 weeks.
