Cutting down nighttime bottle

We are working on cutting down my 16mo baby boys nightime bottles. He ends up drinking ~8oz of milk and wakes up 3-4 times at night. I tried adding water to his milk and also tried offering just water but he doesnt take the bottle and keeps on crying. He is also teething heavily so is into solids much these days so I feel bad to cut down his milk but it’s taking a toll on my sleep. Is there anything we can do differently?

Agree with sleep. My girlie was nursing the entire night. I could not move a muscle then we sleep trained and I added some bad habits along the way like nursing her to sleep the first time so we retrained her a month ago and she’s sleeping 11hrs since. BUT I will say starting during teething is going to be a added challenge. I might consider waiting a week or so until that tooth has pushed through. Rest is ahead mama. We used the taking Cara babies method. Takes 2 weeks.

Yes, I 100% agree with sleep training. It definitely is a game changer when you know your little one can go to sleep independently! First of all, I’d break up that sleep association with his bottle. Give it to him at the beginning of the bedtime routine (maybe 20 min before lights out). I would also add to decrease the amount each night til he doesn’t have anything to drink. Replace with cuddles and encouragement he can sleep without it.
Yes, teething is probably the culprit so delaying any sleep help would be best til at least a few days from now.
You’re going to need to be consistent, firm and very encouraging. You got this momma!!
