What was everyone’s experience like having an HSG?? My doctor wants to make sure my fallopian tubes are open so I’m probably going to get one soon.

Following!! I have one on Weds

I've heard this is not everyone's experience, so don't want to scare, but mine was extremely painful. I wasn't expecting that so I want to let folks know in case you have a similar experience. My tubes ended up being open, and I got that news right away during the procedure, so the relief of that helped me deal with the pain.
I'll also add that I had the version of the procedure where they shoot sterile water through your uterus and check with ultrasound. I know there are a couple of different ways to do it.

Pain 6/10. I took pain meds before I went in, it was more uncomfortable and crampy than sharp, for me. I vaguely remember about 2 minutes on and off that hurt. The weirdest part was the fluid entering the tubes, the the 2nd weirdest part was rolling around on the table for different X-ray angles with the tube still in and feeling crampy.
I didn't have a blockage. I was also told my the technician that it can hurt more If you have a blockage.
