First time mom with xxxl acrylic nails

So I will be a first time mom in a week or so if I go full term on March 13th. I have a nail appointment coming up on March the 1st. I was wondering are there any moms out there with long nails. I’ve been wearing long nails for about 8 years now. I’ve baby sit my baby cousins and nieces and nephews while having xxxl nails. I do have them cut down to a length that I feel is short but I was just wondering if anybody has long nails, are you use to it since long nails feel normal like to me xxxl nails feel normal and like the length I have now feel short these are the nails I have now and I will post pictures in the comments of my usual length

I’ve never had nails as long but I always felt really nervous having acrylics or fake nails while my daughter was a newborn just because their skin is so delicate and I personally have a difficult time doing certain things with long nails on. I would practice buckling and unbuckling car seats with your nails and keep in mind diaper changing too and diaper cream. Ultimately I’m sure it’s primarily to do with how comfortable you are with your nails and a newborn. You could also maybe consider getting your nails rounded so they don’t have sharp edges or points that could accidentally scratch your baby. Congratulations!!!! 💕

I can’t offer any help, but your nails and your nail tech are amazing!

I wear long sets but I went short for the baby they have a lot of jerky movements when new I plan on going back long around 4 months

But this is a short set I got for delivery

My usually length, before having my son, was right between your regular length and the set you currently have, but I used to always do stilettos. I changed to a bit shorter than your current set, and almond shape. I still do that length and almond shape, at 17 months pp and pregnant again, due in June. It’s worked really well for me! I’d say whatever you feel comfortable with! The only thing that made me go shorter once in a while, are injuries from digging through giant piles of laundry 🤣😅

I got a short set before birth and up until my bubba was 2 months because everyone was like "omg you're not gonna be able to change nappies" blah blah but now I've got them (not as long) but managing fine! I guess just see how you go?

I suggest you get them short for the delivery just cause they have to put the device on your finger when they come in and check in on you while you’re at the hospital

It depends on the person. Personally the only problem I ever had with long acrylics was pushing the button on the buckle of her car seat. I had to use my knuckles but that still hurt my hands. It’s just super important to keep the back of your nails clean all the time (especially with a newborn) as they’ll carry germs easier.

The only problem I would see is unbuckling the car seat. Sometimes you really gotta put thumb power into it lol

I don’t think it’s a scratching issue, I think it’s more of a poking in the eye thing, as well as nappy changes for little bubs can get extremely gross, so I would go a bit shorter, just to be safe, but that’s me.. you do you ….

Thank you everybody for being so kind I will take everyone’s tips and advice and think on it my nail appointment isn’t for a couple of more days ! Be blessed ladies ❤️

I think the main issue is delivery.... most women grab onto the bed or things when having contractions and it's very likely you're going to push your nail upwards and it'll hurt
That and needing to put the finger monitor on especially for things like an emergency c-section they need to be able to monitor you which they won't be able to do
Your nails are lovely though I dont think I'd manage that long 😂🙈
I'd definitely consider them shorter for a month or two as a just incase more than anything

Honestly just hygiene having them short , baby poop and all gets under there 🫠

I had to stop wearing mine so long. They personally prevented me from doing the little things with my baby like grabbing stuff out her mouth or picking a booger without scratching her etc baby’s are so wild with their movements I would accidentally poke her

These cute lol I actually expected xxxL 🤣🤣

Would not recommend for delivery I wasn’t able to grab the railings or my partners hand as strong as I wanted due to the pain I was in and ended up breaking 2 nails !!! 😫😫 took the edge off the labour pain tho that’s for sure

Avatar

the length I have now is short to me but I guess to some it’s still pretty long if you look at the top comments you can see the length I would normally wear

Avatar

labor pain hack 😂😂😂 but okay okay thank you

Love your nails!! Super cute!! I wish I could do nails like that😩 me personally I couldn’t function with long nails after & not to scare you but I had read a story where a baby had passed due to contacting Ecoli bacteria due to acrylic nails & bad hand washing. Do what you think you’ll be comfortable with!

Girl you’ll be fine! They will just have to get cleaned more often! With my first son I did almond second son I stayed with long nails for a little I just couldn’t get to the nail salon as easy so now I have short nails only because I don’t have the time. The length is nothing if you are used to it it’s just like an extension of your finger 😅
